I did not find this very surprising. It's amazing how a little taste of a game can affect whether or not someone pulls out $60 for a game.

If your game is shit, don't blame the demo. Blame the game not being worth $60.

This... the industry's idea that every new game should be priced at $60 is ridiculous.

This. If it hurting the sales, it is because people knew it is crap and never bought it.

I usually think that if they dont offer a demo of a game, then it is crap and they dont want us to know.

I get to try headphones before I buy them in a store. Same for a lot of other electronics. Make something worthwhile.

The demos are misleading also. You get a taste of it, 2 guns and a invisible wall.

no demos creates less sales because you dont know what you are getting if it's a new franchise especially.

I never play demos anymore. My HDD is practically full so I rather save space for actual games.

Exactly. If every game had a demo, I would have saved myself a lot of money on games that I didn't end up liking (Call of Duty, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, etc.)

I can agree with this. I only play demo's of games I plan to buy. Many Demos have changed my mind.

Not suprising. Most games aren't worth the $60 price tag.  Doesn't help they all ways use older code that doesn't reflect the final product fully.  But still if your game sucks and people try it and realize it sucks good for them. Drop the prices or lose sales simple as that.

Not surprising. Most folks see how bad the game is and they don't buy it.

So basically just fool them with hype using ambiguous methods like trailers, then profit.

It can go both ways. My son and I have bought about 20 games off of XBox Live after playing the demos. If the demos had not existed, we would've never wanted the gams to begin with...

I can see it happening with a lot of high ad budget games. Most consumers have unreasonable expectations about a game. No wonder so many pre-order without any confirmation of quality.

Not in the least bit surprising. I can't even count how many times I was anticipating a game and then played the demo only to find out it was a turd.

hell, demos have saved me at least 500 dollars over this generation from trying personally hyped games and being disappointed, or enlightened by the pooptastic offerings.

This... the industry's idea that every new game should be priced at $60 is ridiculous.

perhaps if they established a voting system or something to let the developer know how much juice their game was gathering, they could then creat a price point worthy of the level of excitement. Either that, or lower it to that price after the first week. But yes, all games are not TLOU that's for freakin sure

Double edged sword?... if people are on the fence and a demo gets them to buy your game why would you take demo's away?!... YOU WOULDN'T UNLESS YOUR DEMO MAKES PEOPLE REGRET SPENDING A HOUR OR TWO DOWNLOADING THAT 2-3GB POS! :D

This is the way I feel about it. Some devs just don't need to be making "that game".

Game developers have known this for probably more than a decade now.
