Resident Evil 5: People will Flip Out... Possible 2008 Release Date

Capcom's assuring us we'll all go bonkers - in a good way - over Resident Evil 5, and we're desperately hoping that turns out to be true.

"Just being able to see Resident Evil 5 running, I'm like 'Oh my god!' Honestly, when we start showing more of that, when we start letting people go hands-on with that, people are going to flip out", Capcom's Chris Kramer (senior director of communications and community) has said in an interview with Major Nelson.

"That game to me is super exciting", Kramer added.

He explained he's just returned from a trip to Japan where he met with producers on games coming in the next two years, and later sparked speculation about Resident Evil 5's release date.

When asked what's coming up from Capcom, he replied, "We have a really fantastic year ahead of us, a year that's going to include games like... Resident Evil 5...".

Alluding to a release in 2008, or simply the fact that we'll get hands-on reports this year? Surely the latter.

Seriously, though, I must be the only person not excited for Resident Evil. Probably because I didn't enjoy RE4 too much. I liked it on the Wii, certainly better than I did on the GameCube, but nothing about it made me go, "ZOMG, BEST GAME EVAR!" or anything. The controls still tank, IMO.

RE was born as a scary game, SH is more of a psychological game. But if you want a really scary game, go play Fatal Frame.

Oh, do not miss understand me, I of course want them to do their best job, lol. I am just going off of Capcom saying that it will be coming this year, and I just hope that they can indeed hit that mark.

re's always been suspenseful

ink ribbons forced players to go long distances without saving in order to make them very careful about every movement, the camera (love it or hate it) allowed for some disturbing instances, and the ammo restrictions helped place a feeling a dred on the player. you sometimes wouldnt know if you had enough to finish off a group of monsters, if you really had to. this made you use your head more, as opposed to the near mindless running and gunning in re4

If it comes this year then we will have a serious GOTY deathmatch. Possibly the best as 2007 fizzled out to just SMG, really.

I would if Silent Hill wasnt in the hands of a bunch of bumbling fools! and also Resident Evil "Was" The place to go when you wanted a good scary game, but Capcom has perverted the series for a arguably better formula...but I still wish they didn't mess with the game and do it with a new IP.
