Respawn discontinues sales of Titanfall

Wow.. gotta love that digital era the we live in. Thoughts, SW? How do you feel about this news?

Titanfall 2 kinda supersedes it in every way. One of those sequels that makes the original irrelevant. No real point for TF1 to exist any more.

Titanfall 2 is one of the best FPS of last gen. sadly they never made a sequel. first titanfall is irrelevent game.

Kind of surprised they didn’t announce it a little earlier and give some people time to purchase it before they pulled it. Maybe they plan to end server support when they drop it from services as well although you think they would have said that also. Anyway Titanfall 2 is a better game so may as well just go with that. Actually played a bit of TF2 last night and it was a lot of fun.

I was reading how some have gone back because Titanfall 2 hacking and/or the Titanfall 2 player base has diminished as a result of the hacking. Maybe this news will spark a revitalization of the player base of the original, maybe I'll fire it up again this weekend.

I actually understand taking servers down, but taking it off digital stores? WTF?

Isn't there a single player campaign with the game?

Seems so weird to remove the single player campaign from stores aswell?? Only reason I can think of, is if a remake is in the making, but why would they remake this game??

The original game is online only, if I recall correctly.

Digital gaming is awesome... Love buying something from the comfort of my home that plays immediately and doesn't spin a disk while I game... I mostly love that I'm not responsible for another plastic gaming box in the world when it's totally unnecessary. Save the planet baby! Go digital.

Titanfall came out back in early March 2014, the game is 7yrs old and at that time, it was an Xbox One/Xbox 360/PC exclusive to those platforms. The game is old enough to be discontinued anyway and once better shooters came along, Titanfall didn't really last long and once Titanfall 2 came out, there was no point returning to the first game at that point.

Really enjoy the hell out of Titanfall when it came out but had a shitty campaign but glad Titanfall 2 SP was the best thing Respawn ever made.

Tf1 had better movement n maps overall. It’s the better Titanfall game.

@Star67: It had no traditional campaign, if I remember correctly it was MP only with snipets of a story mode thrown into that.

What's the point of not selling the game anymore?

Yeah kind of wondering this myself.

As others have said, maybe it's because they have plans to take the servers offline? The game was online-only, after all. Suppose if you sell a game you can't play, that'd be criminal?

Wonder why they just don't offer a patch to take it offline. The game had bots. Probably too difficult/expensive.

But both TF2 and Apex Legends use that same modded Source engine as well. (Actually, considering they came after the original TF, their engines are almost certainly even more modded.)

1st titanfall have no story mode only MP right? Wonder why stay when the sequel and to and extend, Apex Legend is better.

Always felt slower paced to me. I couldn't get into it.

Heh, I think Titanfall 2 was one of my last physical PC games I bought. It was an impulse buy in store because I was thinking "Comes with a free season pass, nice".

As for Titanfall 1: I'm just sadened by the fact that eventhough I can reinstall the game, the servers will dry up because of a lack of new players.

Maybe they are pulling it for a reason similar & we will be getting a TF1 & 2 remaster....probably not as sales were pretty average, as the casual clowns haven't even heard about these games existence.

They are all too busy buying the latest COD, totally oblivious to the fact that Infinity Ward became Respawn, & IW became a shadow of it's former self.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the COD games, BUT, TF & TF2 blow them out of the water in every sense & it's sucks they didn't see sales that would have ensured sequels & content for 1&2. Instead EA threw them onto the bandwagon of battle royal, & we got the decidedly average & hollow Apex..

Weird thing is, I love the concept of battle royal games, I just don't think anyone has got them right yet. They feel experimental, unfinished, empty, devoid of fun, bland & boring..... or like in Warzone's case, just a frustrating hot mess.

I don't give hoot about TF1 being discontinued from a sales perspective, in fact, Respawn deserve kudos for keeping the servers open after that long....& I'm sure the fact it is selling less than it costs to sell it on digital stores is reason for said removal. This is the part ALL DIGITAL advocates don't get.....Once you have gone that way & a game gets removed.....it is unrecoverable... Unlike a physical copy, you can't search down a copy on ebay, or any form of private seller, as YOU the proponent for digital have given away the 2nd hand market to corporate greed, because you were stupid enough to place convenience over ownership.

So many brainwashed people just buy COD each year and then complain: Ugh, I'm playing just the same repetitive shit I played last year.

When Titanfall is the evolution that COD needed. It's perfect.

I'm not a huge fan of Battle Royale myself. The fun gunfights are offset by mindless running around an empty map and RNG mechanics, which I'm just not a huge fan off.

Digital owner will still be able to play it just like physical owners.
