Respawn: EA made Titanfall deal, will work on PS4 later

Apparently EA made the deal for Titanfall being exclusive to Xbox, not Respawn. That sucks for anyone hoping for it on PS4 (will pick up eventually on PC myself when it's cheap).

However, he says Respawn "will make games on PS4. Just not the first Titanfall." So, there you go. Pretty much confirms that the original Titanfall will skip PS4 but the sequel may be multiplat (another Mass Effect situation on our hands maybe?).

Just wait.

Cool maybe it'll have a campaign and I'll actually want to purchase it!

Don't get your hopes up. Nothing stopping Microsoft from doing the same for any potential sequels if the first one turns out to be big on Xbox One.

Didn't they also say a while back that they were going to alternate by year with Titanfall and Star wars or something as well?

If Titanfall moves Xbox One units, just like people said part one would only be a timed exclusive, I'd bet everything on MS securing Titanfall 2 as well. MS has shown if this comes down to money, they will win. Anyway, the game looks great and I can't wait to play it. No doubt we'll see Sony nab a bigtime exclusive third party game as well.

EA owns rights to the first game, MS buys rights to the rest. Cows get to enjoy Titanfall 1 in 2019 on PS4. Win win for everyone ;)

Still smart by MS even if they do only have the first game exclusive; if Titanfall 2 doesn't come out until 2016 that's 2 years where the Xbox One is the only place to play it.

That's true, from a business standpoint. It was definitely a power play.

I think I'm probably gonna get it on PC though, if I decide to build a new rig later next year. If I bought an Xbox for one game, I would seriously trade the system in within a year unfortunately.

Yeah it's definitely not worth buying for one game, the PC version will probably the best version anyway.

Zampanella should have known better - leaving Bobby Kotick's BS for Electronic Arts BS is a side-grade, not an upgrade.

Their revenge will probably be 720p on the XB1 with lousy Anti-Aliasing and then for Titanfall 2, 1080p/60fps for the PS4.

So, what if a couple months after Titanfall releases, they announce Titanfall 1.5 for the PS4, which includes whatever DLC they had sold to lemmings? And at 1080p/60fps on the PS4, it's like a whole different game!

Titanfall 1 is exclusive, not Titanfall 1.5. In fact, wasn't that how RE: Code Veronica X got onto the PS2, past the Dreamcast's original version?
