Its obvious that the demand for a PS3 at £425 is not there, and shops have been stuck with piles of unsold PS3s.  This is good news for anyone that wants a PS3 but is not prepared to pay the high RRP though, as already some good deals are being offered.

The Blockbuster video store in my home town is offering a PS3 for £399, with 5 free rentals and £5 off any PS3 game for example.  I've seen other stores offering the system for £399 or offering deals on games and stuff as well.

mmm here in western canada ps3's are sitting on the shelfs untouched to and its already starting to slow down in eastern canada so yah......here in canada ps3 isnt doing all that well either though its impossible to find a wii and getting a xbox360 is pretty easy though thats to be expected since it launched a year and a half ago.

My prediction is

#1 Wii
#2 Xbox360
#3 Ps3

Though i still perfer my xbox360>wii

Its a new system. If the demand was there, why would they lower the price and lose out on money? Just because other things are on sale, it doesn't mean the PS3 would be reduced in price just for the sake of it

retailers arent buying the PS3 at £425 so to put it on sale for £399 its unlikely retailers are loosing any money, i still say this is your usual easter price cut that most things get around now, seems fanboys just want to turn it into another doom and gloom story

just browsing games's website shows the 360 bundles are being offered for big cut prices now, there is nothing out of the ordinary in consoles selling for less than there RRP this time of year

WH Smiths is doing it nationwide and Play.com is doing a £400 bundle. PS3 plus a Blu-Ray movie and an HDTV cable.

I didn't say they will lose money, I said they will lose out on money. They will earn £25 less, so yes, they are losing out on money. If the PS3 was selling enough, why would they do that?

I think it is a sign the PS3 is selling less well than they hoped but it doesn't neccessarily mean it is selling badly. Obviously lots of companies over ordered at launch and now have a huge issue of having a lot of capitol tied up in the machines and taking up a lot stock space. Once they have got rid of their initail shipment prices will go back up.

I would expect £399 is close to cost price for the retailers.

Thanks for the info. I think this may be a realisation by retailers that the Euro price point is ridiculous.

I walked through town today, Virgin, game, WH Smith all had offers for $399 PS3 deals.  they are desperate to sell stock that they cant move.

simple business sense would tell you that if demand is high you max out the price, and create expensive bundles.   you dont discount until you need to stimulate demand.

Hes right, so his little town really does represent my whole country. In Vancover I had 2 friends find a PS3 within a min of thee other, I on the other hand couldn't find any Wii's for miles... The only reason they bought that system was because no Wii's were around, thee other found a wii and traded his PS3 for it the following month. Other guy bought his Wii this week and kept his PS3 to. He seems to like Dark kingdom more then Motor storm and flow though.. >.> I hadnt even heard about the game before he bought it.

Either way the PS3 is not selling well in Canada it is a FACT! (Always wanted to say that.)

because its spring sales many popular items recieve price cuts the PS3 isnt some special case, why would they do it? because thats the nature of a sale it drums up the buying frenzy that happens every holiday period but sales arent limited to items that dont sell enough...........thats a silly thing to believe

Yeah, I see price cuts on the Wii too...

Oh, wait no I don't.

Not everything is put on sale you know, so why would the PS3 go on sale?
