If KOTOR is seen as one of the best, if not the best, RPG ever, what makes you think Mass Effect would be any different? what about it doesnt look like it plays well? its a 3rd person RPG/Shooter that, from the gameplay videos, plays very smoothly, and has what looks like great RPG/shooter elements. one of the few games on 360 that i truly want.

Well, it depends on what you see the gameplay as. Remember, it's more of an RPG than a shooter, so don't go expecting a Gears of War level experience or else you would be disappointed. Expecting an RPG gameplay with more flexibility will leave you more satisfied.

So how does that make the game overrated?

In the 1UP podcast the reviewers say this was their E3 highlight right next to Bioshock, even above Halo 3.

So it seems to have won them over early and I expect more amazing reviews. They said for once you actually want to see characters talk because it's natural and realistic (thanks to the advanced hardware the characters convey emotions better), and you control the tone of the dialogue.

I know that its an RPG made by the guys who made KOTOR, and that it is supposed to have a very detailed plot with many different paths to take depending on your actions and how you interact with other characters. Its combat is team based and you explore the galaxy or something like that. I dont really know anything about the story or much else, but whenever i watch a video of it it just bores me. It just doesnt seem like much fun.

Do you not see how traveling and exploring such a vast galaxy with so many paths, and optional interactions is innovative? Nobody has properly pulled off what they are trying to do. The way they've set up discussions with NPC's looks to up the immersion by a large margin. If you arent into RPG's it's understandable, but you can't deny that they're doing something different.

I diagnosed your problem. You most likely didn't play KotOR. The prescription would be for you to rent or borrow the game when it comes out. About 10-30 minutes into the game, I can imagine you crapping your pants.

The actual shooting stuff doesn't look that great, but being on your ship with everyone and searching for new galaxies and planets looks awesome. Hanging out in the ship in mid-flight from Kotor 1 was some of my favorite parts.

Well, I don't think Casey's intention was to say that Jade Empire is a crappy game (I'm actually going to buy it tomorrow!), just that not everything Bioware produces is the most amazing game you will play. Sometimes, they make games that are just...good.

oh please anyone who beleaves BIOSHOCK is that good is just blind. Everynow and then Reviewers feel they need to act like a game is Jesus, Bioshock is that Game i bet half the people who buy it won't like it, it's too complex for the Average gamer. games like that get good reviews but barley sell. Like this guy in EB said, i don't play PS1, PS2 or old Xbox games(after saying how he's so hyped for Bioshock) so in the Opinion of Casual Gamers Bioshock looks awsome, i can careless.
