its pretty cool but that truck moved way to goofy so i'm guessing this needs alot of tweaking but its pretty nice but i'm sur if Cryteck wanted to do their own physics engine they would build it themselves and do a better job.
lol sometimes it feels the truck is made of jelly or something.
But still, nothing is rigged? o_O That's hard to believe actually... Impressive.
I'm sure is exaggerated so that we can actually see it easily for demo purposesits pretty cool but that truck moved way to goofy so i'm guessing this needs alot of tweaking but its pretty nice but i'm sur if Cryteck wanted to do their own physics engine they would build it themselves and do a better job.

nope, if you read the description
" This is still an early work in progress - don't mind the shading and collision issues, we're working on it"
Like i said its a cool physics engine but nothing to amazing but thats still impressive.

The shading has nothing to do with the exaggerated bouncing feel and the collisions issues probably mean the truck parts clipping into each other when crashing. There are probably physic, weight and gravity options for the devs to play with. The shading has nothing to do with the exaggerated bouncing feel and the collisions issues probably mean the truck parts clipping into each other when crashing. yup, the truck doesn't look like its made of metal, more like silicone like killab2oo5 said

There are probably physic, weight and gravity options for the devs to play with. if you wanna defend a early work in progress tech demo where the developers themselves say they have alot of work to do on it, then go for it. This is a cool engine but it needs some work. Its pretty damn cool though.[QUOTE="m_machine024"]The shading has nothing to do with the exaggerated bouncing feel and the collisions issues probably mean the truck parts clipping into each other when crashing. It just seemed tome that you used the "shading and collisions issues" part of the quote to explain the "goofy feeling" of the truck, even through it's not related.[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"]

That truck is apparently made out of silicone. killab2oo5
Cars atuallyare rather squishy. They're designed to act like one big cushion, when rammed into unbudging barriers.

Cars are not silicone. :lBut they'll feel like it when they ram into a sturdy object and high speed
when i got in the thread, i expected something like skin that looks pressure sensitive (grab your arm to see what i mean).BrunoBRSI was actually disappointed that that wasn't what was being shown. It would be a fantastic addition for fighting games like Mortal Kombat.
Anyway, this is still a nice physics engine as far as I can tell. It's definitely something that I'd enjoy messing with for a while.

Lol, yea sure. Go play bumper cars on the highway with that mindset...[QUOTE="NoodleFighter"][QUOTE="killab2oo5"]Cars are not silicone. :lkillab2oo5

Not to mention that cars are made to fold up upon impact, in order to absorb the force.
 That was incredibly impressive! I can't imagine how much work that must've took to get it like that. Are physics like that going to be implemented anytime soon in any upcoming games? 'Cause I'd love to actually play a game with physics like that!

agreed. I've seen enough slo-mo crash tests ... this looks pretty close to me. They admit there's still problems with the colision detection. I think it does the job pretty nicely just the same.
Anyway, if the truck was made of silicone, it'd pop back into it's original shape. It wouldn't crumple.
we got directx9 on xbox360 i don't think well get it on consoles.mother of god those guys need to sell it to crytek and epic games

It seems too rubbery and bouncy, and there doesn't seem to be enough friction between objects, but overall its very impressive.

Lots of stuff does pop back rather weirdly.

Does it pop back into its original shape like a rubber truck? No it does not.
Metal is not rigid and unflexible. They may not have captured the properties with 100% accuracy, but the bounce and bend you see in this video are very much present in real life.
Have you ever seen a busted car? Although it looks and feels solid, it is made to crumble into pieces and fold to assure your saftey. With high speeds the car folds it's hood, engine and other parts so you get as little of impact enegy as possible. That is with the new cars.
Crash physics with old cars should be built from ground up seeing that they were solid and didn't really crumble.
