Nintendo have honestly lost all hope of ever catching up to microsoft and sony with the wii u. It is being released too early and just about everthing its getting the current consoles have had from release.(proper online play, communication, hd gfx, ect.) They will sell in Japan and the fanboys will buy (like the 3ds)but in my opinionNintendo is surviving off their past sucess.

It's goal is not to catch up with last gen consoles, it's goal is to start the next gen race.

My reaction exactly. A new console being released by the company in first place spells death for the company, I don't think so

Would you rather have great first part games, or great first part games AND multiplats (ps3,pc)?

If catching up to the 360 and PS3 means being ahead in games and sales then yeah rip nintendo They've won this generation regarding consoles, but hey the only winners in reality are us the consumer. As they battle it out to provide better games and better services to us. So the winner of each and every gen = all of us

Fixed.

Well... I hesitated putting the 360 there because although Halo, Geow, and Forza are all great, its a bit too little..... but yeah I guess the sheer amount of multiplats the 360 still has makes up for that xD

My point was that by the time the new sony/microsoft consoles are released the wii u will again be obsolete. It will have a year or two at top and then fall away as hardcore gamers join the other consoles. It will sell well, but mainly to casual gamers. The controller while fresh is not suitable for hardcore gaming and you are unable to use two wii u controllers at once. Just as the wii has faded away due to lack of features and games 360/ps3 have had the wii u will, just my opinion.

The wii wasn't the first console released this generation and wasn't the most powerful. Still didn't stop it achieving what it has.

IMO the WiiU will be in the position the wii was in the beginning of this generation when PS4 and NextBox launch, we will be seeing 7th gen ports like B:AC and Darksiders 2.

LOL, I dont like the word hardcore in gaming either, it sounds a bit nerdy honestly. Anyway, itsfor those people whoplay games not just for entertainment but for the challenge too.

The controller actually adds a lot of potential for deeper games - especially RPGs. Don't have to go to a seperate menu for inventory, can add hotkeys etc.

Wii U will be that what the PS2 was to PS1.Just better.Nintendo will be first again next gen.At least they innovate and pioneer and this time it is the controller, which will change gaming forever just like the N64 did with its analog stick.Actually playing with the PS3,Xbox 360 controller feels sometimes like playing N64 games(almost 2 decades ago) with better graphics.

Why don't no one be sharing their crystall ball with me.

Nintendo is great for singleplayer and innovation but where is wii's big cod and battlefield community, where is there parties and online communication, where are there gamertags(not friend codes), there achievment/trophies. I dont ever hear about the multiplayer on wii is(besides a few exceptions). Do you think the wii u controller is suitable for intense online play? Besides the firest party releases the wii releases have been very weak in the last couple years. Every multiplat on wii is a dumbed down version of the real thing. Thats a fact.

Rumor has it, the U may be more powerful than the Nextbox. And it is rumored Sony is going to be utilizing the Cell again. So again, the U could be more powerful. The thing is, we don't know, and as of right now, Nintendo is standing in the best possible place, given the facts. They have an ass-load of profits from the Wii to work with, and want to build a console fit everyone, which includes core gamers. I find it interesting how people just think the PS4/Nextbox are going to be leaps in power like the 360/PS3 were. Sure, if you want to pay $599USD for a console, then that might be the case.

I disagree. Nintendo still has a huge lead over both even without an HD console. Once they get one, there will be no multiplatform games they cannot play. That means that Nintendo fans wont have to buy a 360 or PS3 to play COD anymore or other high def titles. If that Wii U controller is as good as advertised, they might very well end up the console of choice. PS3 owners will be able to get similar functionality from the cross connection to Vita, but Wii U and its controller have that in one console. PS3 though has the catalog of games rolling which Nintendo will have to catch up on...something other than Mario and Zelda lol. If anything, I think Microsoft is the one that should be worried. They are doing little outside of pushing Kinect right now. As far as momentum goes, they are flat as a pancake. Sony has the library and Vita, Nintendo had the Wii U, and MS has...Kinect Disney lol.

Their console and handheld won the gen by a massive margin, yet their catching up?

I am not talking about sales. Nintendo will always reign supreme there, I am talking abouth the appeal to non casual gamers.

So you're guessing who will buy and stick with their console when we next to nothing about it. For all we know, the Wii U could end up with the best third-party support next gen. Also its not like MS will have a strong focus on hardcore gamers next-gen.
