I haven't played the original Risen or Witcher games, but their sequels both interest me. However, because I don't know anything about these 2, and because of the tons of other awesome games coming out this year, I am only getting 1 of these and do not know which one to get. If it helps, I like fantasy, open-world, action RPG games with a good story, good combat, a bit of exploration, and choices (though this is not necessary if the story is really good). Can you help me decide? Or should I not get one of them at all? This year, I'm already planning to get Dark Souls, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. How do Risen and The Witcher compare to these RPGs?
If Risen 2's release date is in 2012, I'll be sure to get it. But can anyone tell me the difference between these 2 games, exactly? What are the pros and cons of each?

If they're anything like their first games, then Risen 2 will be a really good open-world RPG without much of a focus on its story, while the Witcher 2 will be a fantastic story-driven RPG without as much freedom.
If I had to pick one though, it'd definitely be The Witcher 2.

Yeah, I'm wondering about the PC version vs console version too. I actually prefer console gaming because I just can't relax in front of a computer with my hands on a keyboard and mouse. But people say the PC version is much better.

Ive only played the demo but, it was seriously bad, had framerate problems and just felt really choppy. Not my kind of game anyway but if your going to get it, get it on PC

But people say the PC version is much better. I hear this line uttered thousands of times and it goes to show how many console gamers are completely ignorant about the possibilities of PC gaming. You can use a ps3 or 360 controller for your PC. And you could play from your couch with those or even your keyboard and mouse. Also Risen on consoles was pretty bad compared to the PC version. Risen is good but has quite a few massive flaws. You basically go from "wolves will destroy you" to "nothing can ever take you down" in a few hours of equip upgrades, the ending is awful and non-existant, and the story as a whole is lame. That said, the world and exploration, fighting, etc was fun enough. The witcher was far more of a complete package as a game, but I will definitely be getting Risen 2 as well.
I hated Risen. It was soo boring and just plain ugly overall.

It has good lightning/foliage, but the character models are pretty bad.
