Price in pretty much all of those goes to System Shock 2.
Mainly due to the sound. It is reather old tho, and even back then it felt a bit clunky.
In length I suppose the Dead Space are the shortest of the games.
Not sure between the other two, System shock 2 is usually in the 20+ hourper playthrough, depending on the class you pick, and the way you do things. (maybe 25)
The scariest game belongs to System shock 2, because, nomatter how many times other people claim otherwise, A game can not be truely scary IF you pack a freakin arsenal, nomatter how "bad" an opponant looks? Just pull trigger = Problem solved.
In SS2, you had to scavange, and even then youd likely rarely have enough ammo for any real worthwhile combat scenatios, which forced you to hide, or go Melee. Health was rather rare, and If you could'nt hack? well then you could pretty much just lay down and die, because skills with weapons were always secondery to survival skills, quick thinking and memorasation of the different decks. (All in all there is a reason that SS2 and Deus Ex was considered the only of thier kind of games back then).
Enemies? eeh this is a bit of a toss up, and more subjective really. I like the SS2 enemies, because they were just "wrong" abominations, you had pity for despite fearing for your life when they were near. Everything had this menasing kind of rone, from the ex crew, that ran around begging you to kill them, while they were clubbing you, or the polite cold voice of Xerxes ai network, or service bots, that very politely asked you to lay down and die for them.
Dead Space had the more morbid enemies, I like those just as much. This tangled mess of flesh and bone that would just not die (untill you vaporised enough of them with whatever "miningtools" you had at your disposal (and no I do NOT consider a freakin wide beam plasma cutter a mining tool, as much as every soldiers dream).
RLH I have a hard time saying much about, I playied it for about an hour way back. But after getting my expectations built up by the intro It plummeted when the game began. I suppose that the game did not get a fair shot, was especially hard because I had hoped it was very much like RE; and it was anything but.
Storyline: Well this is simple. You know how Bioshock is pretty much heralded as one of the best stories in gaming this gen? well its pretty much a carbon copy of SS2, except SS2s spin on it was far more sinister and evil. The notion that the only "friendly" voice over your intercom usually was who it was, pretty much felt like Standing infront of the gates of Hell, and having the Devil padding you on the back.
you felt trapped, the choice you had was between a lesser evil, where the notion of "lesser" was measured in the minor details.
However TC you have forgotten a very important thing about theseHorrorgames... The Sound. SS2 holds up really well, infact alot of what made SS2 work so well was the sound.
But this is an Aspect where Dead Space are on par without question. The tense feeling of cracking bulkheads, the odd inhuman sounds, the sound of being alone (how Ironic that may sound).
But as I said, I can only fairly judge SS2 and Dead space. RLH was not a game that cought my interrest back then, altho I wished I had given it more of a shot. It just had a fiarly bad first impression (or rather too good)
