Rockstar confirms " a MASSIVE sequel" for 2009 !!!

rockstar in the conference call have said that after tey polish off GTAIV tey have plans to release at least ONE MASSIVE-MAJOR SEQUEL for 2009 :O no other details ave been revealed exept that it will be a "TRIPLE A SEQUEL " :o

rumous are around max payne 3 and of course manhunt 3-BUT given what happened to manhunt 1 & 2 thats unlikely and + to see those zommed-in decapitating scenes on the ps3 & 360 in 1080-ban confirmed :P

Max Payne... important to remember a movie is also in the works so I would bet on a MP sequel... Which wouldn't be bad :)

Well, considering they don't have any really MASSIVE franchises other than GTA and Max Payne...and the fact that a Max Payne movie is currently in development to be released in 2009?

Max Payne is pretty much the only realistic option.

Its Max Payne 3 no doubt about it... no sequel could be as massive as Max Payne 3.

Please Rockstar make this one at least more than 10 hours , and it should be PC exclusive :evil:

What's the difference? Rockstar is not really a developer and for the most part it's just a publishing name. They could do both since they have DMA working on GTA, Angel working on Midnight Club etc. pins_basic

Rockstar is indeed an umbrella name for development studios. Take-Two is the publisher.

Rockstar only ported and published Max Payne. Remedy created those games, and they're busy with Alan Wake right now, so I doubt it's Max Payne 3 that Rockstar is talking about.

I think there's a realistic possibility that it could actually be the next GTA4 game. They already have the engine, so the next GTA4 will come a lot quicker than this GTA4 did.

I don't think that they could conceivably create and program a world on the scale of GTA games and create a story line in a year, regardless of having an engine ready-made or not.

I don't think that they could conceivably create and program a world on the scale of GTA games and create a story line in a year, regardless of having an engine ready-made or not.

I think they've probably already been working on it for a while now. Remember that GTA4 has basically been finished since before last October, its original release date. They've mainly been testing and tweaking since then. I guarantee you they've also been working on the next GTA4 installment for at least that long. It would probably be closer to Q4 2009, but I think it's a definite possibility.

Having an engine fully tested and ready and not having to worry as much about the technical aspects of it all will make the design process much faster the second time around. The first GTA4 was delayed for 6 months in the first place because of technical issues.

I know it wasn't just minor tweaks. What I'm saying is that GTA4 was basically finished by last October, playable from beginning to end. They had issues they needed to resolve before release, and that's why it was delayed.

I really doubt Rockstar spent all their resources and manpower on just that, though, when Take-Two (one of the more leniant publishers) would have given them all the time they needed to properly release a giant like GTA4. Much more likely is that they set aside part of Rockstar North to fix the game while everyone else works on other properties, like the second GTA4 game.

Studios often begin the development of the sequel during the development of the first game, anyway, since during that time they come up with a lot of cool ideas that would be fitting for a sequel and can get started on it early.
