Rockstar finally responds: No GTA4 Delay!

We contacted the company for comment and were told that the game is on track for release in "late October".

I wouldn't call October 16 "late October"...there could be a one week delay I suppose. Still, good to know it's coming in October.

i think its 26th october? could be wrong though 

i think the notion that it would have been delayed even partly because of halo 3 is ludicrous. GTA4 will probably easily double H3s sales, and sell more than H3 even just on the 360. i could understand if they had done it so that it was released so that it could be counted in 2008s takings, but not to avoid H3 which it will absolutely crush in sales.

Highly doubt it.  GTA4 might beat out Halo 3 by a little....and that's PS3 and 360 sales combined vs. just 360.  Or it might not, but no way does the 360 version beat out Halo 3 in sales.

ok then, if by combined sales u mean a little as in many millions over the course of the generation i agree. but people really need to put halo's popularity into perspective. have u any idea how much more units any of the last gen GTAs sold than halo? i'm sure both san andreas and vice city individually outsold halo 1 and 2 combined sales. i guess i may be proven wrong on the 360 version outselling halo 3 but will be interesting to see.
