Saw this on IGN

Rockstar North head Leslie Benzies said he envisions players being able to travel back and forth to revisit places they explored in past games.

"Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas, Benzies said. In that context re-imagining Vice City would be very interesting."

Rockstar Wants to Put All GTA Cities in One Game

What do you think this means? IGN hinted at possible GTA cities coming later as DLC for GTA5, but that's all just speculation at this point.

That would be amazing, but very unlikely to happen on PS360.

pretty much. also unlike for PC because rockstar seems to hate PC. I wonder how many gb it would take. How many blurays it would take on PS# and how how many dozen 360 disks it would take :P

Massive DLC opportunity

SuperFlakeman

This is what IGN speculates, but I don't see how it's possible really. Especially as Vice City would not be the same in current day, the 80's theme is what made it so great.

its freaking GTA. It only partially pays attention to reality. I wouldn't put it past rockstar to put like a hidden time machine or a car like from back to the future that lets you time travel.

I don't know, GTA 4 seemed like it was going for "realism". At least in the main story, but that would be cool, though I don't think this is possible to do this gen lol.

I always buy GTA games simply because of how impressive they are from a technical standpoint. I never bother finishing them because I find the experience kind of boring after a while.

... but holy mother of sh*t this would be awesome! I'd really love to see this happen.

This is exactly why I own as PS3. I don't have to worry about loading 5-6 disc in my machine while I play a large game. I have the cell processor, blu-ray, FREE online, and the best controller out in the market. The PS3 is STILL future proof while the Xbox 360 came out already outdated. Shame. I can't wait for this GTA which features all the cities. Vice city was my favorite! I wonder how they will theme the game in terms of which decade. I liked the 80's personally.

If they could let you do that in online free roam, and fix up online free roam so there was actually a living world and things to do (like trains and side activities), I don't think I would ever stop playing GTA.

Little off-topic, but I kinda want them to make a GTA based on the region in RDR. Based on Texas. Something about Cartels and stuff. I think it would work very well.

GTA Online. That's pretty much what happens when the scope suggested is beyond what one single-player game should have (look at SWTOR, TES Online).

I think they are talking about a future title and not DLC. That kind of content is way to huge to be DLC.

I would love to see it happen. I think many would love to revisit vice city.

Same here. I'm sure a lot of people thought after we got a more realistic Liberty City rendition we would see Vice City after it.

Anyway I see RDR as the Vice City of this gen. It has some things in comon: GTA set in a historic setting, expands a lot on the GTA that came before, adds a lot more to do, more interesting story, bigger world :P

I still need to play the walking dead. Heard it has a great story.

Zombies and an open world go hand in hand. I hope more zombie games will be set in an open world.

How about they just focus on MATCHING (i wont even mention surpassing) what they have done with san andreas.

From what it looks like gtaV will be a major dissapointment just like gtaIV. No San Fierro or Las Venturas, no property management, no rpg elements, no ability to change your characters appearance based on what you eat or the workouts you do, or LACK THER OF..

Will it be a great game? yes, GTA4 was a great game in its own right, but as another entry in the GTA series of games.... it SUCKED

I hope he means a Vice City getting the current gen treatment, as much as I loved VC back in the day, the city would seem rather small and undetailed in this day.

Would be cool to visit other cities with the GTA V protagonists though :D

To me GTA IV was in some aspects already much more advanced than SA. Yes, SA had the content, but GTA IV took a huge leap in pretty much everything else. Multiplayer, graphics, physics, story telling and presentation, the city itself feels much more alive and if you would go back to SA now it would feel empty in comparison.

Just because GTA V doesn't have 3 cities doesn't mean it will be smaller or have less content, the area is supposed to be MUCH bigger than all their previous games. Bigger than GTA IV's LC, RDRs world and SA combined.

I can see this game easily surpassing GTA SA, because it takes GTA IVs strong points and puts them in San Andreas with 3 protagonists, a less serious tone (story-wise) and a huge open world.

Aside from graphics and physics (which only came along with new hardware) GTAIV did nothing to progress the series, it took major steps back. Even GTA4 was technically bigger per square mile than san andreas, those were only limitations made by ps2 hardware, but the content and everything behind the game driving the experience was far superior.

Not to mention the multiplayer in san andreas is far superior than that of GTAIV, 200 players max per game > 16 players (32PC) per game

That would be awesome, maybe on next-gen consoles & PC (with the next wave of GPUs/CPUs)..
