In RPG's with a class/ job system, how do you usually make a prty? What kind of classes do you like to use? In DQIX, my party consists of a Minstrel, Gladiator, Thief and Martial Artist. I really like fighting parties, but thieves are always cool, so I make room for them.

What kind of parties do you usually make?

Please use the General Games forum for this type of thread.

I'm a bit sick of the stock single role types. I like screwing around with spellswords, assassin's, monks, bards, that type of thing.

A healer for sure. Not really a SW topic.

Yeah maybe. At least it will get responses here. Besides at least a thirdof the topics here have nothing to do with System Wars.

I like a balanced party.

In SP I like to play as a rogue and in MP a healer.

Depends on the races/alignments/slots available but it's usually like:

Warrior - Dwarf - Neutral

Priest - Human - Good/Lawful Good

Thief - Gnome - Neutral

Mage - Elf - Neutral

It always depends on the situation, I adjust depending on what the situation calls for. Except for Pokemon, my party usually remains static for that game. I also always liked having a Sentinel in my party in the latter half of FF13 -Snow to be precise- because he basically made your party invulnerable.

I usually take the same route, with my preference to play the caster mage as my main character. Though in DA2 I found that having 3 mages, one healer and two casters with powerful AOE spells could be very effective in combat. Then needing one rogue to disarm traps and open chests, as well as being handy with their speedy damage dealing style.

I'm using 2 warriors, a rogue, and a healer/magic caster in Dragon Age 2 right now.

1 AoE tank, 1 AoE healer, 3 AoE mages. Fastest runs due to AoE, also a lot of Crowd Control with them if need. This Used to be my best combo in WoW, unless the place called for a specific class.

Depends on the boss fight and how big the party.

Usually have one main tank and an off-tank. Then a couple of healers and the rest DPS for a party size of 10.

Some fights though especially 25 man might need more tanks or specialised tactics maybe using a specific class to attract threat such as a ranged class to keep the enemy at range like a warlock casting a high-threat spell constantly to build threat.

Mage/Rogue for pvp, Healer/Tank for pve, in non-mmo's, just what ever class is most fun.

The best classes are rangers (traps/pets), paladins (tank/healer), elementalists (elemental damage) , and ninja/monk (dps melee).

I usually go for 1 paladin and 2 ninjas/monks for small parties.

For larger parties, i go with lots of paladins, elementists, ninjas/monks, and only a few rangers just for setting traps.

MOTB? :P

Hmmm, I would have 5 clerics (with different domain) and 1 wizard. Pretty much does everything. (D&D 3.x edition only)

Well I normally play as warriors since I like hulk smashing everything without getting hulk smashed myself. I also take caster/healer/rogue/ranged physical damage.
