My take on the RROD is that it is either annoying crap or awesome depending on whether you spent 40 bucks on the PRP at Best Buy. For that BB gave me unlimited replacements for each time it RROD'd in that time. The first time I got RROD I got a brand new one with HDMI. It happened last week and now I have one with a 60 GB Harddrive too instead of 20. Also got a new wireless controler out of the deal. Awesome! I dont recomend anyone go through MS. They just give you one that RROD'd allready and will again.

BTW I would get the PRP for ANY videogame system. Its not like 360 is the first system with defects.

Yeah, if the PRP works in your favor, go for it. It may add to the price of the system, but in 360's case, it's a GREAT investment.

PRP makes RROD my friend! This is because they give a replacement of equal value. The price drop is coming and if I get RROD again Ill prolly get it replaced with an elite :P

My friend got two free games when he got RRoD when MS was packing the two free games with the Pro from Best Buy's PRP.

I went through MS, and I have been more or less satisfied with it, although had I known at launch what I know now I would have done the Best Buy PRP.

Thats very good.

I'm surprised they offer the PRP for the 360 with all the 360 and RRoD negative perceptions out there.

I got my first 360 through Best Buy and sold it to my friend when I upgraded to an Elite..I told him to take it back and get a new one and he got 50 bucks back when they were clearing inventory for the new 60 gig models..

50 bucks is nice, but I would rather had gotten the new 60 gig model instead. Of course being the idiot that he is, he bought COD 4 instead of dropping the 50 bucks back into a PRP....

Wow that isn't a bad idea, and I think I'll do that when I buy my 360, but the only draw back to that is all the download content you lose when you get the new 360.

MS gives you "one that RROD'd already and will again"...yet all your new replacement models RROD'd too.

Clearly you get the RROD no matter what because MS hasn't officially fixed the problem yet. So no matter what size HDD or controller you get with your brand new model, you are still getting the RROD.

I just want to confirm this piece. I have an Elite System that I replaced after my orig 360 RROD'd. I had the bestbuy protection and swapped it out for an elite (paid the difference) and bought the protection plan again. Now just a couple of months before my 2 yr bestbuy plan is up, my elite RROD'd. Has anyone else found that they'll let you keep your 120g hardrive? I'd hate to lose 2 yrs worth of info. Thanks!

I think it's pretty sad when a console has such a high failure rate that someone would spend an extra $40 to prepare for the inevitable.
