lets hear some horrible experiences and devastating stories about RROD and how you dealt with the problem.
and will you ever get microsoft consoles in the future?

I have had Three RROD's, and 1 E74.
Yes, I will buy their products/consoles in the future. I'm sure they learned not to do this next generation.
On average, Shipping for me was between 2-5 weeks.
So I will settle on about 3.5 weeks, almost a month....Overall, I suppose I've spend about a total of 3-4 months without a 360 this generation while waiting for repairs.
The one thing I HATED was the customer service at 1-800-4MYXBOX. I always was talking to someone that barely spoke any english, it's sounded like India, but I couldn't be sure.
Every call should have taken about 5 minutes, but they usually were over a half an hour due to Xbox Customer Service being outsourced in a foreign country. I hope they fix that.
I felt bad, because I kept having to ask, "What, Pardon me, can you repeat that please?" over and over." I thought it was a fluke, until I had to do it multiple times. Perhaps that just a NA problem.
I may wait a few months before I JUMP IN next generation though, unless the LAUNCH TITLES are must have killer apps.
Iturned on my 360 one day, and saw the three red lights flashing. Events unfolded as follows;
1) Called the support number
2) Spent a few minutes describing my problem
3) Got told I would get sent a box
4) Recieved said box two days later, along with a prepaid shipping stamp
5) Packed 360 into box
6) Sent box out
7) Recieved box with fixed 360 five days later
And that was all. Not very interesting, but to make up for it, let me give you a truly terrifying Sony experience;
1) Called SCE support
2) Spend around a half hour trying to convince the handler that my PS2 had, indeed, a DRE
3) Was informed I would be charged for the repair
4) Angrily paid aforementioned charge
5) Sent in the PS2 with a box that I had to provide, along with the shipping stamp
6) Waited
7) Waited
8) Finally recieved PS2 THREE WEEKS later
9) Repeate process two ****ing times.
Guess which experience I found easier?
My 360 RROD on the release day of Halo 3 :( :x!!! I was not a happy camper.Wii_Gamer_277Same here. Then I got it repaired and it came back loud and kept freezing. Ended up selling it and getting a ps3.
True story: I'm on my 3rd 360 and it lasted 10 months and no problems so far.
My 1st one got RROD in 1 month.
My 2nd one got RROD in 8 months.
I never had E74 either.

One month? Jeez.
I always got a year out of my 360's before they died. Do you fall asleep with the 360 left on sometimes or is it really humid?
only thing worse than rrod, is getting the ylod and having to pay 150.00 to get ti fixed, although sony's process is much better, hardley worth 150.00 dollars.

actually the worst thing would be getting RROD after ur 3 year warranty expires
one rrod, it was back in ten days
there was some bigtime game out at the time but i forget what it was
ok i discovered my very first problem when my console fell with a disc inside - it scratched my pd0 , , no other console does this
then 6 months later it was working fine then i turn it off to go get a game from walmart saints row put that in , all of a sudden i get this to play this game put it in the 360 message so i called microsoft who said it was the disc i just went and bought another 360
then 6 months after i got that one i got my first rrod ms repaired it ,then 7 monthsl ater it rrod again so i sent it in and bought a new one on hte side
then 8 months into that one i got another rrod the one i had repaired started scratchin discs for no reason so on dec 08 i bought a new one , so i have 3 total ,
the one was repaired
the other hasnt givien problems yet
and the new one 3 months in had to be sent in because it wouldnt turn on
it was repaired so now it works knock on wood
so if the next one reports problems ill stick with nintendo or sony ,or both and get a xbox next-when its cheap

which im guessing will happen to ALOT of people.actually the worst thing would be getting RROD after ur 3 year warranty expiresfedor19820Not necessarily. That happened to Spruce. He called MS and they fixed it for free anyway. They also offered him an further-extended warranty for $30/year.
your situation is very common among many many people, and is a main reason why 360 is ahead of the ps3 in sales by a little margin so far.ok i discovered my very first problem when my console fell with a disc inside - it scratched my pd0 , , no other console does this

That would great and all if MS did that for everyone who experiances problems after the warranty is up but that would hurt them badly.

Really humid, last game I played before it got RROD was Dead or Alive 4. I learned from my mistakes and take care of the 2nd one better, but nope, still RROD, so I read that putting it on a hard and flat surface would help, this is my 3rd one, looks fine, doesn't it?[QUOTE="fedor19820"]actually the worst thing would be getting RROD after ur 3 year warranty expiresIronBassNot necessarily. best buy offers a better deal $40.00 for 2 years but i only when u buy the system new (and it covers controllers also)
how cool would it be if the xbox live fee also included warranty instead of charging extra fee for the extended warranty
i have an xbox360 elite (bougth it when they first came out due to hdmi imput) and since i had it for a while am scared to use it since my warranty was ony a year when i bought my system

all 360 have a 3 year warranty,My 360 RROD on the release day of Halo 3 :( :x!!! I was not a happy camper.Wii_Gamer_277So I wasn't the only one ;) I am on my fourth and would most likely buy the next generation MS system.
Just like I bought a PS3 after I had 2 PS2 succumb to DREs.
I guess I am just a glutton for punishment.
