We'll finally stop hearing about how PC's I/O is inefficient and the supercharged SSD of the PS5 will create games impossible to run on PC.

Microsoft is delighted to partner with NVIDIA to bring the benefits of next generation I/O to Windows gamers. DirectStorage for Windows will let games leverage NVIDIA’s cutting-edge RTX IO and provide game developers with a highly efficient and standard way to get the best possible performance from the GPU and I/O system. With DirectStorage, game sizes are minimized, load times reduced, and virtual worlds are free to become more expansive and detailed, with smooth & seamless streaming.” - Bryan Langley - Group Program Manager for Windows Graphics and Gaming

Consoles have been owned. Now SSD speeds wouldn't matter. 😂🤣 Not like it did 😮

Benchmarks needed for validation of ownage.

The SSD would automatically upgrade you to Gen 4.

No it would not.

At least PS5 still has unique features to differentiate itself from PC gaming, but XSX... Oh, poor shit just slaughtered before even see the light of the world...

I'm pretty sure Phil Spencer died while watching the NVIDIA keynote.

No, you won't.

Gen 3 PCIe according to Hardware Unboxed might start to bottleneck the 2080 Ti slightly at extreme frame rates (120+). But at 4K, it doesn't matter at all.

Alright sounds PCIe 4 will definitely be needed in the future, but I'm good for now (RTX3000 series)

Agreed.... if I have to go on back-order so be it. I just want it for the SRP and not some jacked up cost on the post-market.

I said it previously that all the cows hyping SSD on Cerny's word, hold your horses. It's not proprietary and was actually made by Samsung/AMD/Intel etc. Turned out I was right, industry was actually moving in that direction all along. They just get to market and create a PR around it earlier. It's also going to be releasing on PC earlier than consoles.

So, we have 1080p RT reflections on Clank and some on GT replays? While the non RT UE5 demo runs on PS5. The completely path traced demo runs at higher resolution than it.

Consolites have been royally owned again.

Will wait until Dec/Jan to see if they release a Ti otherwise if 3090 lives up to its hype then may be just may be I'll get it.

Did you know that Tempest engine is the future of gaming? If not, then i am simply letting you know, because audio is much more important than RT, maxed settings and 60fps+. As if this wasn't enough, we add next generation vibration inside every controller, and your experience becomes so immersive that you forget you're playing a video game.

Great so for the first time i see PC gamers admit that they had a I/O problem the first step is the biggest acceptance.

Now in 10 years maybe adoption rate would be at 45%.

This thread portrait the relentless hypocrisy of this place, hermits haven't stop with the jokes about SSD and downplaying the I/O customization sony did,and now all of the sudden Nvidia does something similar and is great.

And the fun part is that instead of the CPU been hit the load now will be handle by the GPU it self, using MS API in fact most of the talk is in deed about MS API more so than Nvidia I/O improvement.

So yeah sony did a good job apparently but some people just can't admit it.

Just look at the tittle of your thread period you are riding it.

So again is good to know that sony was right about not only using faster NVME but fixing issues and bottlenecks with I/O they were right.

@fedor said:

Lol, devastating news for you. RTXIO was leaked under a different name months ago, people paying attention knew this was coming. Looks like they can port R&C now lol.

Why devastating news for me?

If anything this news confirms that sony was right period and you people downplay it.🤣

Instant game loading and stutter free navigation through endless open worlds has long been a goal of gamers and developers alike. Even with the incredible performance of Gen4 NVMe SSDs, this goal has remained out of reach. Modern game engines have exceeded the capability of traditional storage APIs; a new generation of I/O architecture is needed.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is not only a blow to you,and the hermit squad also to some fake developer who troll every day here, and who downplayed SSD from sony while comparing it to PC and its bottleneck I/O i guess Nvidia is also in on the marketing hook,is either that or what sony,ms and Nvidia claimed is true normal I/O was a problem.

Introducing NVIDIA RTX IO

Leveraging the advanced architecture of our new GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards, we’ve created NVIDIA RTX IO, a suite of technologies that enable rapid GPU-based loading and game asset decompression, accelerating I/O performance by up to 100x compared to hard drives and traditional storage APIs. When used with Microsoft’s new DirectStorage for Windows API, RTX IO offloads dozens of CPU cores’ worth of work to your GeForce RTX GPU, improving frame rates, enabling near-instantaneous game loading, and opening the door to a new era of large, incredibly detailed open world games.

Guess i was right the GPU will offload the process from the CPU,this on PS5 is done by dedicated hardware not GPU or CPU, is also nice to see the PS5 level of performance is on par with the 3000 series when it comes I/O utilization the Xbox series X is just 40 times faster, the 3000 series is 100X same as the PS5.

Wait what did Nvidia claim faster frames from this? I though it was impossible to get a performance gain from using faster SSD and I/O.

Object pop-in and stutter can be reduced, and high-quality textures can be streamed at incredible rates, so even if you’re speeding through a world, everything runs and looks great. In addition, with lossless compression, game download and install sizes can be reduced, allowing gamers to store more games on their SSD while also improving their performance.

The second time Nvidia claims performance improvement from this, not only that is basically he same shit sony claimed for the rest, install size been smaller, better details.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/rtx-io-gpu-accelerated-storage-technology/

No wonder TC didn't posted a link to this information it is a kick to the face to those who downplayed the PS5,but but but now who's claiming performance gains from this?

Yeah Nvidia is i guess it must be fake, going by what has been argue here for the past 6 months or so you can't improve performance by using faster ssd or I/O, those lying Nvidia bastards.

Oh and is a RTX 30XX feature which mean yeah i hope you have $1400 ready when launch comes this mid september.

So you see devastating? No this is great news the PS5 has a feature comparable to a $1400 GPU on PC this is a great victory for sony and cows.😎

Bro, like your ps4, which shows the last game you played to be modern warfare remastered? with zero trophies? and the next most recent is Kingdom Hearts Bro? That was in January 2019, Bro? Bro, I hate to say it, because we're Bros, but are you a fakeboy, Bro?

But I'm sure you play a ton of Xbox, Bro. What's your gamertag, bro?
