Innerbits.com report that there are Several fresh items of news today, regarding the PS3 controller:

"We can confirm that prototypes of the new rumble-enabled controllers have made their way to various Sony developers. Information on these controllers is still closely held by Sony and their partners, but an official announcement and unveiling is expected in the next two to three months. Leipzig is the most obvious guess for this unveiling, but we believe Sony is going to withhold the controllers until they can launch them to coincide with support from enough developers.

We can also confirm that new versions of the Sixaxis controller are quietly replacing the original controllers launched with the console. Hardware updates occur regularly throughout the lifespan of controllers; in this case, Sony has improved the fidelity of motion sensing in the controller. The original controllers apparently suffered of too much of a dead zone."

No one should applaude them for doing the obvious.

BUT fixing a mistake is better then not fixing it at all. And lack of rumble was a big fat stupid mistake.

So now I'd have to rebuy all my controllers for something so standerd, that it should have been at launch?

(P/S/ I don't have a ps3 in the first place, but I'm planning on buying one)

one has to wonder if it's in time to make it into GT5...

a driving game w/o rumble is silliness...:(

from what i understand, the developer has to take this feature into account very early in the dev cycle. Given GT5 is ALREADY under development and has been for some time, there is a chance it make not make it in time...

i can't even imagine how boring FPS would be w/o feeling the firing of your weapon *cough*Killzone 2 *cough*

That would be nice but I have to admit I"m not thinking about rumble when I'm playing my PS3. The sixaxis is a cool feature in its own right..Cant play Rub a Dub Duck without it ;)

I hope it's in time for LBP.l I would love a rumble effect when a tower of heavy blocks comes tumbling down.

Sony is calling this "next-gen rumble"? I thought they already fired Ken for saying things like 4D graphics?

Yes but adding rumble fixes that right away. No one can tell if the new chips will stop the RRoD. Poor MS

Thats why they are probably gonna try to fix both, while Ms while got the cheap way and only try to fix the hardware, if they fix it at all, but will still probably have the lousy, loud dvd drive.

After the success of my first interview with Cory Barlog I was granted a second interview with the legend Phil Harrison. (I had to call him Legend or he said no interview...)

Harrison: Now that the Six Axis has rumble was have now done what the world once thought was impossible. We have found a way to integrate rumble into a motion sensing controller without the rumble interfering with the motion sensing. Other companies should maybe take note as Sony's innovations.

BlackBond: But Nintendo has already done that. They accomplished motion snesing and rumble well before you guys.

Harrison: Everyone knows the long history of the Dual Shock controller and we are just adding on to that long history by adding this revoluionary combationatoin of motion sensing combined with rumble.

BlackBond: "..."

BlackBond
: But what about your claims of rumble being last gen and not needed?

Harrison: I never said that?

BlackBond: Yeah you did look right here?

Harrison: Oh that, see what I really meant was that rumble without motion sensing is last gen. That's why the 360 controller is last gen as opposed ot our new gen controller. Implimenting rumble without motion sensing is last gen. We have implemented rumble and motion sensing to create a next gen controller.

BlackBond: So what about all the popele who already own a PS3, have an extra controller, or decide to get a combination of one or the other before the new Six Axis Rumble launches?

Harrison: They didn't complain when we brought out the Dual Shock on PS1 to replace the Standard controller. Really we have a very dedicated fanbase that completely agrees with all of our business decisions with their full support. No matter what we do they can know that they can rest assured that our best interest is their best interest.
