That would be very cool actually! Though since From did say they wouldn't work on the Souls series anymore I had assumed that also mean spin-offs (like Bloodborne).

Would more than definitely welcome it, but I'm not counting on it.

Hmm. Conflicted. Bloodborne is one of my favorite games this gen, more of that wouldn't be a bad thing. But I'm so fatigued on the Soulsborne stuff, I haven't even had the urge to start Dark Souls 3 yet.

I'd much rather see those guys do something completely different.

@ConanTheStoner: Well, franchise fatigue is a real thing. Especially with games that demand quite a bit from the payers, like the Souls series. Not necessarily because they're super, super hard, but because the games punish your lack of concentration/attention. You can't play it like say, a Fifa sort of game in which you can literaly turn off your *brain :P

As much as we shit on R* for taking ages with each sequel of GTA (at least since SA was released) and other franchises, it's honestly for the best! While they're always fairly similar, the time gap + new features make them feel fresh.

And then there is Pokemon. Which miraculously does not seem to suffer from this.

@Desmonic:

Definitely, it's the same reason why I still look forward to Nintendos big games like Mario and Zelda, they're usually 1 per gen deals. If Souls stuff only came out every 4 or 5 years, I'd be excited for this one. But 5 of these things since 2009, with possibly another on the way? Yeah, it's a bit much lol.

I have no issue with real gaps between sequels, more time for them to shake up the formula and more reason for me to be interested.

It would also be better for their longevity, but it seems they're going the Activision route, milk the formula for all it's worth as quickly as possible.

@charizard1605: Neither does CoD. Or Fifa. Or Battlefield. Pokemon isn't that special in that regard :P Now if we're talking sales numbers....

Though none of those games, Pokemon included, demand as much as Souls does from my experience. Again it's not so much that it's hard, that's just the initial hours, but it's having to constantly pay attention to what you're doing. For example, I can play Fifa or Pokemon while multitasking (listening to music, browsing the web on the phone, etc), because those games allow me to do so, I can make mistakes there and still be OK. With Bloodborne, which as far as I'm aware is a fairly streamlined Souls experience, I can't do any of that (death, even in the late game, can mean quite a bit of unsaved progress gone to hell). Maybe that's just me though, dunno. That's how I view them at least, hence why it makes sense to me that people get tired of the Souls experience after a couple of games.

@Desmonic: Bruh, CoD and FIFA are not even close to comparable to Pokemon, c'mon. FIFA, maybe, it's gotten super big in the last decade or so, but even so.

@charizard1605: Sure, but they don't really suffer from franchise fatigue which was my point in bringing them up :P Millions upon millions buy them every single year, regardless of the actual quality of the games.

But that's my point, even in terms of sales they are not comparable. FIFA is getting there if I throw in the mobile games, but that's about it. Pokemon has maintained this charade for over 20 years, maintaining a ~15-20 million units of sales level consistently all that time. CoD has already started declining, and its sales explosion happened only 10 years ago, while FIFA only exploded in sales 10 years ago (though the franchise is obviously far older).

Not comparable. Pokemon's remarkable thing is not just that millions buy it every year without getting bored, or that the games are great, it's that all of this has been maintained for over two decades at this point.

Although I loved bloodborne; I wouldn't want a part 2. Seems like single title game.

I'd be more interested to see a new IP from them as well. I liked Bloodborne a lot when I got the chance to play it and it's about as good as Dark Souls to me. Dark Souls 3 was good, but felt very uninspired to me. Maybe that had to do with franchise fatigue on my part.

Okay, but that's like 25% of my damn argument lol Not only do these games sell a lot (Pokemon included), they don't demand as much from the player as the Souls series, IMO, which is why franchise fatigue among them is less noticeable. There is a reason they're annual multi-million selling franchises dude, franchise fatigue hasn't really fully set in (and if the latest CoD reveal is anything to go by, it's likely not setting anytime soon). As I see it, the biggest factor (besides, obviously, liking what you're playing) is that it's easier to play 2 or 3 CoDs/Fifas/Pokemons back to back than 2 Souls games back to back, because of what they demand/don't demand from the player.

Like I said, my experience with Souls is that even by the late game I need to be focused even if my character can now kill enemies with some ease (since I can also easily die by being sloppy and lose progress if I don't save often). With the Fifas/CoD/Pokemons/etc? Not really the case for me, can easily do other stuff while playing those games and still do OK. Like I said at the beginning, this could be a "me" issue, but is why I can see people getting tired of Souls much faster than any of the other franchises mentioned (regardless of quality or lack thereof).

It's way too soon for another Souls game, and Bloodborne 1 felt kinda rushed and underdeveloped.

If this rumour is true, hopefully the release is still a few years away.

You guys should take this debate to its only logical conclusion and ban each other.

Yeah, I've heard that a lot. Like it retreads a lot of ideas and almost comes off like some lame fan service.

I'll get around to it eventually. Kinda glad I didn't just push myself to play it, it's always nice having a game like that in the back pocket for when the mood strikes.

Honestly, the Souls formula needs a break. They should hold off on any more sequels.

An announement this year would have to be almost a certainty wouldn't it? Whether it comes out before 2019 is another thing however...

Some peoples propaganda is way and beyond i know.

Final Fantasy 7 remake new footage as time exclusive will be great also. First gameplay demo of Last of Us 2 , new footage of God of War , maybe first glimpse of Death Strading and many more things to show !

Also dont forget Days gone , looks awesome. Also Wild on paper feels unique though i dont know if it delivers in the end.

Suddenly for some only the unannounced exclusives matters in order to win E3 or something . lol . Then something like Bloodborne 2 will land and boom.

Bloodborne was so good it made it hard for me to enjoy Dark Souls 3, which is why I haven't finished it yet even though I bought it on release day. I know people like to lump Bloodborne with the souls games but IMO this game should be in its own league.

Bloodborne is one of my favorite games this gen, and a sequel would be something I'd be very excited for.

But then there's the other side of me that feels a bit indifferent because I was under the belief From Software was branching out to new territories.

Either way any From Soft game is a load of hype from me.
