@charizard1605: Sure, but they don't really suffer from franchise fatigue which was my point in bringing them up :P Millions upon millions buy them every single year, regardless of the actual quality of the games.
But that's my point, even in terms of sales they are not comparable. FIFA is getting there if I throw in the mobile games, but that's about it. Pokemon has maintained this charade for over 20 years, maintaining a ~15-20 million units of sales level consistently all that time. CoD has already started declining, and its sales explosion happened only 10 years ago, while FIFA only exploded in sales 10 years ago (though the franchise is obviously far older).
Not comparable. Pokemon's remarkable thing is not just that millions buy it every year without getting bored, or that the games are great, it's that all of this has been maintained for over two decades at this point.
Okay, but that's like 25% of my damn argument lol Not only do these games sell a lot (Pokemon included), they don't demand as much from the player as the Souls series, IMO, which is why franchise fatigue among them is less noticeable. There is a reason they're annual multi-million selling franchises dude, franchise fatigue hasn't really fully set in (and if the latest CoD reveal is anything to go by, it's likely not setting anytime soon). As I see it, the biggest factor (besides, obviously, liking what you're playing) is that it's easier to play 2 or 3 CoDs/Fifas/Pokemons back to back than 2 Souls games back to back, because of what they demand/don't demand from the player.
Like I said, my experience with Souls is that even by the late game I need to be focused even if my character can now kill enemies with some ease (since I can also easily die by being sloppy and lose progress if I don't save often). With the Fifas/CoD/Pokemons/etc? Not really the case for me, can easily do other stuff while playing those games and still do OK. Like I said at the beginning, this could be a "me" issue, but is why I can see people getting tired of Souls much faster than any of the other franchises mentioned (regardless of quality or lack thereof).
