rumor: cyberpunk 2077 slated for 2016 cdpr responds

Well this makes 2016 interesting, and now that CDProjekt Red are currently king of the hill in RPG gaming, they maybe far in development of what will out fantasied final fantasy with Cyberpunk 2077 with a rumor release of 2016.

Typically all companies never comment on rumors, but Cyberpunk 2077 have been in development since 2012 after the release od the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

The reveal seamed to indicate this title has a ton of potential, hope it's worth the wait.

Does this game have any correlation with the Deus Ex franchise at all?

I just hope Cyberpunk 2077 isn't release on the same day/month as Squadron 42 since that too is to be release late 2016 is my only concern.

Not gonna happen. They said we won't even hear more details about the game until 2017. So, it'll come out in 2017 AT THE EARLIEST. Don't expect the game to come out before late 2017-Mid 2018. The game is in very early stages of development. Before the release of Witcher 3, they were just prototyping. Only now the actual development of the game has started.

would love to see what they do with a setting that is actually interesting. i could not give a **** less about the witcher universe

@davillain-: CDPR already stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will be release when its ready. So it could come out late 2016 orr possibly 2017, to be more realistic, and maybe will be for the NX? :o

I'm expecting in 2017, since that's what they said themselves.

Until Zelda gets a release date, i dont think anybody will be giving them out. I feel bad for anyone trying to release in late 2016.

@ladyblue: Well if Nintendo want to take there new console very seriously, then all this 3rd party support would be for nothing. If Cyberpunk isn't release for NX, then Nintendo has failed yet again with no 3rd party support.

Why not? Just buy both.

I'd say Nintendo's biggest concern moving forward, should be changing people's mind about their system being a good secondary console. Until they fix that perception, they will continue to struggle moving units, & getting 3rd party support.

Better hardware isn't going to fix the problem. Look at the cube, it had better hardware compared to the ps2, but it still didn't get anywhere near the amount of 3rd party support.

@ladyblue: Everyone is a secondary console compared to PC now, there is no sense in competing with it, just try to survive is all we can do. Make customers want both.

I don't think that's gonna happen. 2017 at the earliest, but I can see it being pushed to 2018 too.

Given all their talk about it being bigger/more ambitious than The Witcher 3, I really doubt it. I think its in everyone's best interest if they take their time with this one

It's all about marketing in the end. I agree with you, Nintendo needs to change their console perception and powerful hardware is not enough. They need to attract all gamers that the console will guarantee all the games from not only first party, but third party.

Nintendo isn't going to get EVERY multiplat game - that will never happen, and IMO this one is highly unlikely even if Nintendo makes an effort to "recruit" CDPR. CDPR is a small studio that doesn't have time for that - unless Nintendo is money-hatting it.

Don't get me wrong - Nintendo needs all the help it can get as to 3rd parties. Given the market, they pretty much have to sign "deals" just to bring games to their system. I just don't think this game is one they will go after. If they are smart, they will lock up GTA 6 and/or Red Dead 3 and make sure it launches the same time as other platforms. It might be unlikely, but that is the type of "win" Nintendo needs to get in the 3rd party space to re-assure customers.

Now if people have $1000-2000 rig, or are really serious about PC gaming. Then obviously the console is secondary. But the vast majority of people aren't like that. Some people (like me), go back and forth depending on their recent purchase. My laptop blows away PS3/360/Wii-U, but since I've purchased my PS4 I've been back to console gaming - and I've hardly gamed on my laptop at all in 6 months (I used to plug it in via HDMI to my television, and use a 360 controller - but even with a laptop it gets annoying constantly doing that).

It's more a case of Deus Ex being a clone of Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk 2077 is based on the original pen and paper RPG Cyberpunk 2013, (re-written and updated to Cyberpunk 2020). Even then they were inspired by/based upon a series of short stories written in the 80's

Thats you mate, but majority game on PC. Minecraft, CS:GO, MMOs, FPS, MOBAs, RTSs, these are where millions play daily. Its the biggest gaming place in the world. And you dont need no 1K rig to beast a PS4. PC aming can be cheap or expensive, can be whatever you like, PC is King of diversity.

It will be announced for 2017 and then delayed to spring 2018.

@primorandomguy: no, iirc Cyberpunk is actually an old pen-and-paper RPG franchise.

if anything, Deus Ex might have taken some inspiration from that. But honestly if they are similiar, that is a good thing; Deus Ex is a great game, lots of inspiration to be had there.

I hope for Cyberpunk they work a bit more on actually making the locations interesting. The story, characters and quests in Witcher 3 really were top notch but the environments were just so bland and boring outside of the really repetitive junk to do lists highlighted on the map.

I am playing Fallout 4 at the moment and it just a much more interesting game to explore. I am not saying it's a better game, it's certainly not a better looking game but it's a MUCH more fun game to explore and just spend time on. Witcher 3's great quests, characters and story actually distracts you from how awfully dull wandering around in the game environment is.

"clone" is a bit strong; Deus Ex is a strong game on its own merits. Give credit where credit is due.

I am sure they took inspiration from Cyberpunk, as well as other sources.

The thing with CDPR is that they don't have a big publisher to rush them... so the game will be released when ready, if they feel like by late 2016 it's not still done, they'll just keep working on it. I mean no promises were made

I just hope no major asshole publisher (Ubi/EA/activision/zenimax etc) tries to buy to CDPR, let's pray they remain the way they are and always loyal to their customers.
Don't forget Bioware was once like them, then EA shit happened.

They greatness of CDPro still continues. I'm expecting in 2017.

Hope it comes out before Seven( a new RPG from former Witcher developers). :D
