Rumor: Earthbound game heading to the Wii?

Earthbound is a popular series that I hope many people here are familiar with. Also refered to as the Mother series, this game holds a special place in the hearts of many gamers. The kicker is, this game is going to focus more on the lead character, and apparently it will not be called Mother or Earthbound. Any takers on what the new name may be?pdagamer

Not really. Only in Japan, and even there, it's no Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.

Then again, if Nintendo believe they have what it takes to make an Earthbound game popular, good for them.

A remake of Mother 2 would be an instant Wii purchase for me.

Sorry but iut sounds like 100% bull to me!

I follow the earthbound community daily on starmen.net andearthbound central and I see no credibility to this rumor.

Not to mention if their was a new EB it probablly would never see a release here in the US as Ninty still thinks the US is a weak market for that franchise proven by the last 2 EB games that never saw US releases.

Nintendo loves Earthbound and all its fans. I mean they have released Earthbound 1, 2, and 3 on the GBA, they put an Earthbound demo in SSBB, and Earthbound is on the virtual console.

Oh wait...

Not to mention Eb iskinda a 2-3rd tier Ninty franchise and we ALL know how they have been dragging their feet with getting their first party ip's on the Wii since their dev teams have been more focused on cranking out craptastic games like wii-fit, music, play, ect!

Heck, the wii still hasn't even got its own zelda yet and its been 3 years since launch annnnnd it looks like where still gonna have to wait over another year for it and that sir is a top tier Ninty franchise!

Heck, at this rate I wouldn't be suprised if Zelda wii goes the way of TLP and gets pushed to the next system as a launch title, wonderful :roll:
