"Gematsu has received word that Square Enix plans to launch Final Fantasy XV worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Friday, September 30. This information was corroborated by three independent sources who would have knowledge of the matter.

The release date will be officially announced during “Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV,” an event set to take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on March 30 that will also share a collection of other information about the game.

Our sources in this case are reliable. However, given the sensitivity of the matter, and that within a company setting anything can change before it is made public, we’re reporting this as a rumor until the release date is officially announced.

Final Fantasy XV was first announced as Final Fantasy Versus XIII for PlayStation 3 at E3 2006. It was officially re-revealed as Final Fantasy XV at E3 2013.

I hope for a PC version

As long as it releases this year I'm happy, but that seems like a good date. Probably not much competition.

Okay Atlus, get Persona 5 out before then.

Persona 5 doesn't have a release date yet. Unless it releases within 30 days of FFXV they won't really be competing too hard.

Regardless Persona will not sell any where near FFXV even if it is a higher rated game.

I was super hyped for Persona 5 until I realized it was still going to be turn-based. Now I still plan to buy it, but I think I will enjoy FFXV more because of that.

I started out this year anticipating only buying 2 or 3 games....but this year is starting to get expensive.

E3 reveal, fingers crossed

It would be nice to get a firm release date. I'm liking what i've seen, but it's gonna have to be great at this point. Persona 5 is above it on my list at this point, because... Persona, duh!

I don't like what they did with the combat. I don't like the all-(questionably)-male cast. And I most certainly don't like that this has been in some form of development for close to 10 years.

Everything about this game screams MISTAKE to me. I expect glowing reviews, praises from the masses, knock-out sales, and the inevitable "this game was actually crap" mere weeks after release.

Like others said: where's Persona 5, Atlus? Save us from the hacks at Square.

None of the cast is questionably male, they are all honestly male, 2 are pretty boys but they are distinctly males.

Only the hipsters will call it crap.

"hacks at Square", that's like saying **** froasted flakes because you like captain crunch more, both games will be god tier.
