Bungie will probably make Halo 4. However, even if Bungie isn't doing Halo 4, someone else will pay Bungie a lot of money for the rights to make Halo 4. Franchises that make as much money as Halo has don't just die off. Developers are not going to ignore a guaranteed money-making hit with Halo 4.

Microsoft owns the rights to halo, not Bungie.

When Bungie left Microsoft they (Microsoft) retained the rights to the Halo franchise.

If Bungie wants to develop a multiplat title it would have to be Non-Halo (something like Marathon.)

If they were to develop Halo 4, or are already developing it, it would be only for the 360.

If it is Halo 4, we probably won't see it until next gen of consoles. I doubt we'll see another Halo through this generation (aside from Halo Wars).

They said they are working on something different. Denying a game is in production is one thing, but saying you are working on something totally different and really can't mean much other than it's something new. Plus Frankie left Bungie to work on the spinoff's and it wouldn't make sense to do that if there still is another Halo to work on.justforlotr2004

I haven't read the books, but I do know they are dead and MIA.

Doesn't mean the next Halo installment can't be a prequel before Halo 1-3.

No, that story-arc is finished. The Halo universe is still left wide open. They could just remake the Marathon games in the Halo universe.
