I'd rather them make an rpg.
NoobisMaxcimus
Hmmm, that would something new for them, i don't know how they would handle it
I am inclined not to believe. Well, anyway, if true, good for them for branching out.

Even so, people can always hope. It'd be a surprise though after all this time and with R:fom as a good start in the horror direction, they might be able to pull it off if its real. I believe so at least.
This is their only proof: "According to our sources".... Yeah, Im calling BS.

Knowledge of every rumor of whatever source might be handy in future ;)
They did say they were thinking about going multi a while ago, and in this economic climate, and with games selling better on 360, it was kinda a no brainer.

Isn't Insomaniac owned by Sony though?
Warriorboy1990
Nah, Insomniac Games is independent. However, they have only made games for the PS1, PS2 and PS3, so it does appear that there is some loyalty towards Sony. Insomniac is also pretty close with Naughty Dog, which is owned by Sony.

Insomniac isn't talented enough imo to be much more successful if they didn't get funding and help from Sony.
Hmm if this is true I wonder what ps3 exclusive they are making as their next game before this one?

Doubt it. I don't remember one time Insomniac developed a game NOT for a Sony platform. *Someone can fill me in on that? That would be great.nintendoboy16
none that i Know of, I know Naughty dog did a few games on the genesis but that was before sony entered the game market.

They did three games on AppleII under the name JAM, then changed to Naughty Dog and did another game on AppleII, one on Sega Genesis, and one on 3DO before settling onto Playstation.

Resistance 3. In case you don't know, there are billboards for Resistance 3 in Shreveport, Louisiana, which is the set of a Sony made film about an alien invasion and is set to be released in early 2011, so Resistance 3 will likely be released anywhere from late 2010 to mid 2011.

They just opened up a new North Carolina site, so they might have the California site do PS3 exclusives while the North Carolina site does multiplatforms.

That's Insomniac Games website, which states that they are independent:
"As of 2009, Insomniac Games has grown to 195 hard-working, creative souls and remains completely independent despite a close working relationship with our publisher, Sony Computer Entertainment."

I doubt they are independent. All their games have been on Sony platforms. They are completely independent. They are just on good terms with Sony and are more familiar with Sony technology.
This seems very plausible, since Insomniac had previously mentioned developing for other platforms. The horror game doesn't seem too far fetched either, since Resistance 1 was very much a horror game at some points. I don't think this will be released for a while though, maybe not even for current gen consoles.
Don't Sony own them?... :P do you see what I did there, ownz... hehe Sony ownz them :D... no :(
'sigh' Tough crowd, I need a career... and booze, yes... booze :P

Insomniac isn't talented enough imo to be much more successful if they didn't get funding and help from Sony.
And you know this how?I doubt it. There are many developpers who are still staying with Sony even if they are 2nd party developpers like Sucker Punch, Level 5 and Insomniac themselves.
Insomniac may be a much bigger company now but I doubt they will be going multiplat. Remember this is a rumor too. Just like the one where people said Naughty Dog and Insomniac shared the same engine for the Jak&Daxter and Ratchet&Clank series.
Also even if they do go multiplat, the games they are currently making are still Sony exclusives and they will continue to make those games and make exclusive PS games unless Sony pisses them off.. Although we all know how well Sony treats their devs.:P
Also honestly, I'd rather have them make an Action/Adventure more. A 3rd person shooter with stealth I dunno. Horror.. ehh..

Ratchet and Clank is a great platform game series, havent played an other insomniac game, but I m curious to see how this turns out!!
Its sad thatbarely now they realize making multi-plate games = profits :|

Resistance 2 sold 1. 75 million and Resistance 1 sold around 3.64 million. Thats not bad sales.

If they would have made it on 360 also, it would have made 3+ million, So multi is the way to go

These exclusives have outsold many multiplats already. If you were right then Valve should start making PS3 games along with Bungie and Turn 10.

yes, they absolutely should. Batman: AA has shipped 2.5 million units since launch:
http://current.com/items/90993404_sales-figures-escape-for-batman-arkham-asylum.htm
and that's from an article from september. combine that with the fact that steam sales aren't even being taken into account. honestly, unless the system manufacturer is paying a dev dumptrucks full of money for exclusivity rights, it only makes sense to have multiplat releases.

Well Bungie is an independant studio (just like Insomniac) so multi is a given
Turn10 is 1st party, So a 360 only and Valve is a 3rd party developer that chooses not to develope for the ps3
It just a matter of time before Insomniac developes multiplatform games, and Ms is gonna probably rub it in Sony's face
