RUMOR: Konami Ran OUTTA MONEY to promote MSG4!!!! (no with link)

EPIC FAIL!!!! :lol: How many years has MSG4 been in development? How much money has been spent on development?? So much for MSG4 saving the PS3. The game is coming out w/out any commercial promotions in order to recoup some of the cost of development. (I guess this gem will go over looked by the mass population).

People who are interested in the game have been to game stores or gaming websites/mags which I have seen so much about MGS4.

But when I'm playing the game, I won't care about the people who don't know about the game. Seeing good sales for the game would be great, but that is not going to help my enjoyment of the game.

Every single person who will buy MGS4 already knows about it (exaggeration) because MGS isn't a mainstream game, it's a niche game, it's a HUGE niche but a niche.

MGS fans will buy MGS4 and that's about it.

Air Time on major stations is expensive. It's even more expensive during prime time. However, there were PLENTY of ads for games like Motorstorm and Heavenly Sword. Those games were crap, but they still sell well. And if a game is great - then it would sell even better with strong promotion.

The PS3 won't be done for. It will help sales... yadadada, but I don't support the PS3. I don't support the Wii or 360 either. I support the games each one has, and that game that the PS3 has is MGS4.

And I don't watch the basic channels either like NBC, CBS, etc mainly because I don't have the time. When I go home to my parents, I see a couple video game commercials but I barely saw any for Halo 3 back when that was coming out. I don't expect to see a commercial every break in a TV show or everytime I turn to another station.

Yet another person talking about advertising without a clue about the buisness. Video game advertisements dont have to populate TV to reach their target audience, in fact in many cases it might be a waste of money. MGS4 has been advertised like crazy. Video game advertising has been helped by "Buzz" advertisments with each release of the trailer building more and more hype.

Video games can advertise through various other cheaper ways, like through IGN, Gamespot, Gamepro, EGM, etc. It is also plastered all over Gamestops windows and on Best Buy Sunday fliers. Trust me you can spend millions of dollars advertising without touching a commercial and for many products that works better. Video game commercials is a relatively new thing and its helpfulness to certain games is shown by many popular games avoiding TV.

I think Konami won't recoup from MGS4 but Sony will recoup from the PS3 sales, kinda sad huh.

Anyway, if we don't see news about the lines in front of stores at the midnight release for this game on the news tonight, then yeah, you can say that the advertising part of MGS4 is a dud. That's pretty sad though.

That depends on your target audience. You assume that the kind of people that MGS4 would be watching alot of TV which is not true. Heck Saturday morning cartoons died because of video games. TV time takes a big hit to games from gamers.
