Either "Xbox Infinity", or "Xbox 8"
The year(s) long rumor seems to be coming to fruition. Xbox 8 >>> PS4.

I'm not too sure that would work. Consumers are dumb but not that dumb. Samsung managed to outsell Iphone 5 with Galaxy S3.
Personally, I prefer Lexus to Infinity.

The public won't call it Xbox Infinity or even Infinity over time, it's too many syllables. Some sort of slang will catch on.
Slang will rename it overtime, if that is the real name. I think that's when the one syllable "eight" will kick in, or something else.

Which is why they won't call it that.

I am clearly jesting above. Make no mistake, but I do have a point. Obviously marketing does come into play in selling a product (as in the Apple and Galaxy in your example). I do want to point out though Apple did make some tech upgrade mistakes which forced consumers to keep their iphone 4s instead of upgrading. Not to get offpoint, lookie here at the current PS360 models and think of the average "Joe Walmart" and what he and his family see on store shelves. Put yourself in their shoes, think of auntie, grandma, et cetera. Also, using Apple, the iphone 5 wasn't actually the 5th iphone! Think about that, the five serves no other purpose than to mislead consumers into thinking it's the fifth model. So clearly these companies do cater to a select type of audience that rely on brand + numbers :
-----
PS3 (looks like playstation three)
Xbox 360 (looks like Xbox three hundred and sixty, or at the very least, Xbox 3 + 60, certainly not an inferior named Xbox 2 sitting next to a PS3)

That's my thoughts to a Tee, but these days I lead people to come to their own conclusions because it's less effort on the 'buy in". Spelling everything out, the uber fanboys and trolls hate it.
You would think the execs, lawyers, high end retail partners, and PR folks have long already figured that factoid out, and they most likely have. Codenames =/= system name. In the unlikely event that it is called that, slang will rename it.
The leak was well timed, three days before a PS reveal. So, there's that to consider.
It's all just speculation so I'm not worried about it in the slightest. Some people take rumors very seriously round these here parts. heehaw.
What big Sony event? That is a SICK name if true.
NO SURPIRSE at all this was leaked a few days before sony's BIG event.

i don't know, 360 is a mouthful and it stayed for the whole gen, even if people just say "three sixty" :P[QUOTE="SolidTy"][QUOTE="Shewgenja"]

That's exactly my point, slang took over. It was no longer Xbox 360, just the three syllable "3-60" (three-sixty) or many times just the two syllable "xbox". As in, "'Scuse me. SCUSE MEEH! Can I get a xbox fo my kidz? Dang, I hate this plase." Thank you for illustrating it so well.:D
You think in-fin-i-ty will catch on?No, I've worked high end and low end retail years back, it won't catch on with the general public. Too many syllables for any product? Slang automatically kicks in. :P
