RUMOR: Nikkei Trendy Reporting A 3DS Lite in the works. UPDATE: FAKE

Japanese publication, Nikkei Trendy is reporting that Nintendo is busy creating the inevitable 3DS Lite. The publication states that the 3DS Lite will have improved "thickness" and a longer battery life. Contrary to popular belief, the rumor mentions nothing of a second slide pad.

Even though this is just a rumor, this surfacing has made me hold off my planned purchase of a 3DS. Does anyone else feel the same?

of course its real. Nintendo do this with all there consoles and handhelds...they make the first version cheap and crap and then make then second version much better and a must have to milk fansCode_Blue_

Capcom is known for porting RE games, so I'm hoping. REmake and RE0 didn't get ported off Nintendo systems though. So it could be stuck on 3DS.

Duh.

It's obvious Nintendo was developing a redesign. They've probably had it in development since March of 2011, or maybe even earlier than that. They won't release it until there's a reason to do so. The 3DS just had 4 million units sold in December. That means there's no need for a redesign anytime soon. Once there's a decline even with steady software releases, a new hardware revision will be released.

As a consumer, I'd rather have it all in one system (even if its optional) than buying an add-on hardware. :?

That's why the combination "3DS lite is thinner+better battery life" makes absolutely no sense. Nikkei is bad at predictions it seems.

Microchips are getting smaller and more optimized.It's not much of a stretch that they can somehow design it in such a way that a 2nd analog can now fit in.

They could also make the 3DSL slightly bigger than the original 3DS with a bigger screen and all. Not sure how they're gonna fit in the ZL/ZR button but they can probably make some few adjustments.

I'm sure they'll make it but think people are just trying too hard to show their predictions true. Reminds me when I saw the rumors about one of sega's arcade boards being called dreamcast 2.
