Ohhh man... makes me ponder if it's worth another go with this version. What's your hype status, SW?

I’m pretty much expecting this to happen myself. Anyway I’m pretty hyped to see that happen as I do enjoy the franchise and wouldn’t mind getting this game on the Switch myself.
Too bad i played it already on ps4 and the memory is still fresh. Good for people who havent played it. Its one of the best game this gen.
Unconfirmed. Nintendo would probably love to charge people $60 to play 2017's RPG of the year, though lol
I'd probably get it, but my excitement would entirely depend on if there's new content, because I've already played P5 three times, and to the point where I was able to solo the optional bosses on merciless difficultly while being under-leveled by 40-50. Plus, I thought Atlus mentioned that more P5 related things are happening on the PS4, so I'd rather play on that platform if the new stuff is going to be the same as in the Switch version.

Wrong. Nintendo has no say or control over the price range third-parties choose for their games.
It's no coincidence that old ass ports come out on Switch at full prices, sometimes up to 6-7 years later, like Skyrim

Ya but that's Bethesda being greedy. Their greed already caught up with them with Fallout 76.
Jesus, stop begging for old games sheep.
Begging?
Seems like devs smell the green and want to be where the money is, aka the switch.

But it was okay for people to pay 60 when it was brand new on the ps4?
When did gamers become so poor and cheap?
I mean honest, the amount of crying over prices is insane. Get a cheaper hobby, like knitting.
Hey, I hear Fortnite and Apex legends are free.
Still haven't picked this up on the PS4 for whatever reason. Maybe I'll just hold off for the Switch version. I prefer my rpg's on handhelds for portability anyways. Decisions, decisions.
@Bread_or_Decide: Of course it was worth $60 when it first came out. I bought it day one. I'll be damned if I pay that for a game I experienced already that can be bought right now on multiple platforms for a fraction of that price. Old ass games should not be full price. Nintendorks keep egging them on and encouraging this terrible business practice by buying that crap, though

Gamers really don't understand how and why games are priced. It's new on the Switch and that makes it full priced. You think zero resources went into the port? You think that costs the company nothing at all? It's discounted on PS4 because they covered cost and can now sell at a discount to attract more buyers.
They need to make cost on the switch before lowering prices. These are the same people who have no trouble plunking down hundreds for a PS4, a PS4 Pro, and they complain about a regular priced game on Switch that's only two years old. Meanwhile GTAV came out at $50 on PS4 as well as skyrim remastered edition.
Yes, I will always encourage third party games on Switch. And I don't go asking for ridiculous prices because I'm poor or entitled.
If you can't afford it find a cheaper hobby.
Dunno if I'd buy it again. Haven't even played much of it on PS4. A Switch port would be cool though.
It's more or less confirmed at this point. Would be fucking weird to have Joker in Smash but not P5 on Switch.
Double the price, half the quality.
P5 is a PS3 game; Switch can run it no problem.

If they re-release it on the Switch and PS4 (which is what the rumour says), it'll be $60 on both.
When clarification comes it'll probably be that it comes to Japan later this year, gaijin infidels get it mid-late 2020 when nobody will give a shit because MS and Sony will be releasing next systems.

True. "Persona 4" came out on the PS2 about two years after Sony had released the PS3, and that game came and went without having any impact whatsoever *.
* as long as you're not counting the later remake, the two fighting games, a rhythm game, the spinoff Etrian Odyssey-esque game, two different anime series and a metric crap-ton of merchandise.

P4 came and went without any impact? P4 was hugely popular and P4G was released as a result. P3 onward has been solidly popular and additions have been added to later releases. Atlus have been behind on system releases forever... P4 was staggered between PS3 and PS4, and that was the most "next-gen" game they've released.

Not directly, but when you have a first party that doesn't cut the price on its games -- BOTW, Odyssey and Mario/Rabbids are all still $60 -- third parties can release their games at a higher price point without having to worry about being undercut. That's why you still see Skyrim, Doom and Ys VIII still $60.

I apparently forgot to use the special "sarcasm" tag on my reply...

This is why text is a bitch... Unless you're really obvious, then sarcasm is like a fart in the wind.
You are very correct (and I mean that sincerely). Taking your words to heart, I've gone back to my original response and reshaped it to -- I think -- make my point a bit more strongly.
@lundy86_4: @zmanbarzel:
I think Persona 4 would have commercially performed much better releasing on a more relevant system like PS3 when it released, Persona 5's success though probably can be attributed much to the fanbase they built on past releases, but I think releasing on Playstation 4 mid-generation probably had an even greater impact in it's commercial success. And if P5S releases on Switch in a horrible window I worry the takeaway would be Atlus/Sega seeing futility porting these games outside the Sony ecosystem, just ignoring the horrible timing. I think they have a lot to gain publishing on other systems, the Persona games are quite exceptional JRPGs, but it's not going to do them much good experimenting with broadening their market if their timing is horrible.
I've already played P5 three times
Damn, seriously? I played it once and even that one was a drag towards the end. I dont see how these games have any replayability other then collecting new personas I guess. But for that alone I dont think its worth it to sit through hundreds of meaningless dialogue texts...
To each his own I guess

I had a lot of fun creating super teams in order to see just how much I could break the game, plus I really enjoyed the story too.
@SolidGame_basic: Thanks, but it wasn't strenuous by any means, lol. P5 is a really chill game, and minimizing and maximizing stats isn't hard to do if you know how to exploit certain bosses for money.
Atlus USA conducted a survey last month, I think, and Atlus JP(head honchos) are conducting their own right now.
They're basically asking if they want mainline persona and their other games to go multiplat.
I say, there's a chance that P5 might get multiplatform releases, or at least, a high chance for P6 to go multiplat.
If it does, I'd have to get both P5 on Switch and/or PC, and P6 in the future.
I just can't use my ps4 when travelling, and I already have my PC at home.
I don't really understand why Atlus would keep the mainline Persona games as Playstation exclusives, when the Shin Megami Tensei and the Persona Q games are basically Nintendo exclusives nowadays.
There's obviously a market for it, and it's a port of a PS3 games, so a Switch port seems like a really easy way to double Persona 5's sales.
OK now I'm annoyed as hell, If I don't get a confirmation of a PC version within the next 4 months I'm just going to give ATLUS the finger and pirate the game. I'm sorry but there is NO reason why they are not releasing a PC version, and the Switch getting the game before the PC is just insulting at this point.
Do I need to play any previous Personas to appreciate this?
No, essentially every Persona game is a completely different story of its own, kind of like Final Fantasy, though at times characters from other games make cameo appearances which is more of a fan service thing that doesn't amount to anything, so no worries you can go right ahead and get it, and after you are done I recommend playing Persona 3 and Persona 4 because each are excellent games.
