They gave Lair a 9. From the terrible videos we've seen, I think that speaks for itself.

Actually, Tameem Antoniades at Ninja Theory claims the game is virtually finished. They are in the final bug fixing and test phase right now. Although not smart, sending out a review code is possible.

Play sucks. They pick one point of interest and LATCH ONTO it like a leech, somehow just ignoring the flaws. This goes for ALL their reviews, not just video games. Bah they suck. Anyway, from the demo alone, I can't see HS possibly scoring a 10 in more than like 2 publications. the movement controls are kinda stiff, and the blocking is like hit or miss. The pick up and throwing mechanic has some weird sensitivty issues. I could never throw the object i wanted to throw. It was weird. The moves though...are BEYOND GORGEOUS. Especially the way nariko swings her heavy sword. It looks seriously heavy, she has to fling her body to swing the sword. it's awesome.

Where was i? Oh yeah play sucks, and no one should ever care about any review they write. Ever. EGM kinda sucks too to be honest. I don't think they over or underrate too much, their reviews lack a lot of specifics. It doesn't really pick apart the games, so for the most part, all you've got is a rave or a bash, and not a detailed review.

Based on the demo and combat videos we've seen, I have to agree.

Play magazine unlike other reviews, don't review their game by mechanics or anything technical.

Their reviews are purely based on their experience with the game in terms of mood, impression, and how much fun they have.

It is simply different type of review. Some games might have terrible game mechanic but they do excellent job with presentation and overall enjoyment of the game might've not bad or even good.

I don't think their reviews are bad and I do think their reviews are good in a way because they approach games very differently than other reviews, but I do think their numbers aren't as reliable as other reviews. Unless you read their reviews and agree with the points they make, you shouldn't rely on their numbers.
