Sorry if old.

From Kotaku.

Radical Entertainment, developer of Prototype and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, has been hit with substantial layoffs today, according to development sources close to the Vancouver-based studio. Approximately 90-plus employees have been let go, sources say.

That's about half the studio's headcount, apparently, affecting two of the three development teams at the Activision Blizzard owned developer. Radical's most recent game, the open world action game Prototype for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, was met with a positive critical response and solid initial sales.

Activision had previously "realigned" the studio after its merger with Vivendi Games.

One source said that Radical was affected by Disney's recent purchase of Marvel, leading to the loss of an unnamed project. Parent company Activision's most recently published Marvel-licensed games include Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The publisher did not list a Prototype sequel on its 2010 slate when Activision announced annual earnings of $4.28 billion, leading to the "most profitable year in our company's history and record operating margin," according to CEO Bobby Kotick.

What happened to you Activision??

More interesting and less annoying main character, longer SP campaign, easier controls and a more linear, coherent story would be needed for me to purchase a sequel.

I never liked any of their games, so it hasn't really affected me, gaming wise. It sucks for those who lost their jobs, though.

It seems that every other day we get news of another studio closing its doors of cutting its workforce. It kind of makes me feel sorry for those people who are now choosing to try to get into game development.

The studios that are closing usually are never ones that put out any outstanding games. Prototype was good, but very sloppy.

You can be glad they went out of business if the game sucked (which it did). You wouldn't be upset if Walmart fired 600 people because their furniture had lead or something in it would you?

Why did you blame the PS3 owners??

Don't you know that a PS3 owner can also have XBOX360 , PC and Wii

and they can decide which game to buy based on their preferred consoles

and they are the one who fork out the money to spend for gaming:(

Oh Yeah! :P At least it's enthusiastic.

To answer TC about PROTOTYPE? It was Meh. That Prototype picture above where the player is punching his fist through a police officer's chest all the way through his back about sums up that game. It's mega violent with little substance, which is or is not for people. The difference between a Vin Diesel movie directed by Uwe Boll, or any Christopher Nolan Movie.

I find it hilarious you used that picture because I was actually looking for that .Gif from the Kool-Aid Man from Family Guy when he bursts through the wall but I couldn't find it :(

That is pretty funny, then.:P

I could find it with some time, but here's something nice to hold us over.

------------

To the TOPIC CREATOR regarding Radical :

It's a shame about the Protodudes, but at least they aren't completely squashed.:P Maybe a Prototype 2 in the future?
