So desparate ! Â :DÂ
Sony is a company shrinking because of declining overall business, I'm sure MS is making a killing off the Gold fees, but members don't seem to mind overall. I don't see why Sony wouldn't.
Id laugh my ass off if it came to be true but I doubt it like I doubt any rumor posted recently about either system.
If this actually happens, someone should compile all 'paying for xbox live gold' topics requiring all cows to read them in pennance for being abondoned by their very own gaming god.
I can't remember the exact figures but PSN cost Sony something like $800 million last year. Sadly for them cows think this is what should happen instead of them paying for it. Sad times for Sony indeed. RIP.

What I was going to say.
unless they see XBL's subscription numbers as a "success" and unless you work at sony u probably cant answer for that if the vita didnt charge for online play, what makes you think the ps4 will? Unlike MS, sony has 2 (soon to be 3) platforms to support... so 2 will be free and 1 will cost you ? I dont think so.[QUOTE="campzor"]ye, psn + AND an online fee.. no1 is that stupid.ionusX
"Sony's new PlayStation subscription service will be named PlayStation World, and replace the existing PlayStation Plus offer. It's highly likely that the PlayStation 4 will offer at least the same level of cross-game chat and multiplayer features as Xbox Live, a service that Sony is apparently just as eager to ask money for".
Also there is talk of a new eye toy in the box muck like Kinect, and also it's being said they will now have the same thing as smart glass too.
If Sony goes that route then I wont be buying their next console. I will never, ever pay to play online. That's just f*cking stupid.

Paying to unlock the online portion of your game is indeed beyond stupid.
At least give people the choice, maybe pay for a premium service or something, but just straight up online play should be free.

Well hey if it ends up being true atleast I will finally have enough reason to build myself a badass gaming PC.Â

Ditto
the last 2 posters have no true conviction they will end up buying the consoles and paying for online.
Even if Sony does decided to charge for online they will more than likely not announce it today. Today will probably only be about the positive stuff surrounding the PS4. All the negative details will probably work themselves out closer to an actual release.

Sony already know that the xbots are more then happy to pay MS, they prob figure that there own fans are just as stupid.
Usually im an early adopter, but this time I think I'm going to wait till everything has been out a good six months, hell I easilly got a back log that would last me that long with more good games due this year.

uh oh someones pissed :P If you had true conviction you would have built a gaming rig long ago and went the hermit/pirate. Since both companies have been nickle and diming the consumers since day one.

Why is this a surprise? PS3 already has a monthly fee to use online features like cloud saving, automatic downloads, etc. The new console is rumored to have cross functionality with mobiles, bigger social network interaction, and things such as video capturing. All of these will probably be behind the new version of Playstation Plus. I would be very surprised if online play didn't remain free. It seems PS+ is the business model that Sony seems to want to be going after.

Speak for yourself. I bought their console, their games, and that's about all the money I've had to give them. Had to buy multiple controllers too but that's my own dumbass fault for not taking care of them.

eh I will speak for my self I take care of my stuff but the simple fact your so offended by paying for online is quite hypocritical considering the fact that Sony went 3 generations of nickle and diming its customers. Multitap, memory cards, cables...etc all higher priced then the 3rd party equivalents on the ps1 and ps2, Network adaptor hard drive on the ps2 was quite expensive compared to what you could get for the time in a hard drive that was I believe only 40 gigs in size. *ff11 bundle* Ps3 expensive memory stick pro duos, headsets, hdmi cables, multi cables, controllers...etc Say what you will about Microsoft but the past 2 generations they've not really had much more nickle and diming evidence that puts them over sony, about the only thing big this generation was the harddrives which were definitely super expensive.[QUOTE="tenaka2"]

I blame the xbots for being so willing to bend over backwards for Microsoft. Sony probably saw that and said "hmm, maybe our customers are just as dumb as Microsoft's. Lets see if we can get away with this sh*t."Â
I hope it's just a rumor...
you mean like how Charlie sheens bent over for sony during the ps2 days? when sony was all about an optional online adaptor and hard drive then they took such functons out of the slim by adding in a ethernet card and removing the harddrive bay thus screwing over quite a few ps2 owners with the harddrive, or how there are over 200 games in japan that take advatange of the harddrive yet only about 20 games in america hell they even removed harddrive functionality from games they released here.[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"][QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]

1.Sony memory cards in my experience were cheaply made as cheaply made as 3rd party ones yet were far more expensive some times 60% more expensive. 2.internal memory die it would have cost far less it didn't have to be big and it would allow people to save onto their system. 3.the Saturn had internal memory if ....memory serves right. and sorry no that is not s*** you have to buy once if that is the standard then tomorrow you can go out and buy 10 years of xbox live and you only have to buy that once, Also the fact that its a service versus a physical accessory and no still thats not s*** you have to buy once stuff breaks and Sony has never been until recently good at high quality workmanship in their games line. I'm old enough to remember having to turn my ps1 on its side or upside down just to get it to read discs, I remember having to either buy a new ps2 or have it repaired or run cleaning discs through my ps2.[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"][QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"] eh I will speak for my self I take care of my stuff but the simple fact your so offended by paying for online is quite hypocritical considering the fact that Sony went 3 generations of nickle and diming its customers.
