Rumor : RE2 remake for the wii

Japanese fan board 2ch has popped up a rumor concerning a possible remake of Biohazard 2 (aka Resident Evil 2 - but you knew that, right?) that will be exclusive to the Wii.

If the rumor is correct — and when has a random post on a Japanese fan site ever been wrong? — then we will be treated to a full Wii-ified remake, with some additional story elements. There will be a new 'swordsman' enemy (sword waggling minigame, anyone?) and 'Resident Evil 4 Viewpoints', which could mean anything - possibly 3rd-person over-the-shoulder stuff?

Its more than likely just bobbins, but even the slightest hint of RE2 is better than no RE2 at all.

Why not multiplat instead of exclusive :| ? why capcom why ?anyways is just a rumor.

That would be better than Resident Evil 5 on the Wii. Which would have had to involve sacrifice. If the remake is as good as Resident Evil 1 for the Gamecube except RE4 style then I would call it a Killer App for the Wii. RE2 was excellent.

I wonder how they would treat the puzzles? Hopefully as motion sensing minigames.

Yeah, i read about this yesterday, but im taking it with a mountain of salt. 99% of the stuff that comes from 2ch is complete BS. But then again, looking at capcoms track record, a remake seems likely.-DrRobotnik-

I know. I drool at the thought of a RE2 on the PS3 and 360 with HD graphics. But im guessing Capcom wants to go the Wii route as its cheaper. That is, if theyre making one at all.

Svenson is barely more reliable than 2ch. Half of his comments are fan based, safe guestimates. Magazine scans over the next few days will prove this story fake or not.

I think it should have been remade instead of the first one, its much better. Its one of my favourite Resident Evil games.

I didn't enjoy REmake.

Another remake for the Wii, another port for the Wii, another cash in on the Wii... *sigh*

Just give the Wii RE5, Capcom. Quit making port cash-ins. The Wii has more potential than that. I mean, can you imagine Capcom just remaking RE4 for the 360, and then a year later have rumors going around that they are remaking RE2 for the 360? It would totally sound like Capcom was out of ideas. I dont know why they can treat the Wii like that and people think it as "awesome" news.

Yes. But at the same time I've formed an official PS2 graphical standard for all my games; I just can't reconcile putting anything less on my shelf. I got Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4 in my PS2 collection. Among them is this giant gaping hole where Resident Evil 2 should be.
