Rumor Report: Gears of War 2 holiday 2008 xbox 360

That be a 2008 megaton if true - not sure about the validity of the info. but it could happen.

There was a similar runour a few weeks ago.

Epic could be well into development now for all we know, Microsoft will probably reveal GeoW2 after the release of GTA if this is true.

Megaton? It was pretty much expected. Megatons only happen when it's for truly epic and unexpected games. For example, an announcement for Shenmue 3 would be a megaton or the announcement of Street Fighter IV was a megaton.

This game should destroy anything the other two have to offer in terms of pure awesomeness.

Well Mark rein said at E32007 that they wernt starting it until UT3 was done and dusted so I doubt its far.

If this was true, it would shut the cows up about Flopzone. SkullboyX

If GeoW2 and KZ2 came out at the same time, could you imagine the amount of money MS would throw away just to overshadow KZ2 ?!

It would be terribly amusing.

But the funny thing is, they wouldn't really have to spend money on Gears 2. If that game came out next year, it would single-handedly overshadow every game in the PS3's lineup, besides MGS4 and FFXIII. Gears is this generation's Halo; the hype would build itself (and then the 7-eleven cups would just put it over the top).

And biggest badass game on the block? Everyone knew that MS has a deal set up to bring at least one more in that series out. What is so megaton about that? Megatons are reserved for big games that suddenly drop and cause a wave throughout the gaming community. This is barely registering at a pebble in a puddle of sewer water. Megaton? Give me a break.

While I agree that we all know Gears 2 is coming, Epic has been pretty evasive at confirming it, so I'd say it's a little more up in the air than you make it seem. And you don't think it'll cause waves throughout the gaming community? Gears 2 will be monstrous. We all knew Halo 2 and 3 were coming, but look at how huge they still were.

they really dont have to, if you look at how insanely gears sold, its easily the biggest new franchise this gen, it created an identity on the 360 just like halo did on the original xbox.

and a sequel to a boring flop fps on the playstation wont come anywhere Gears2. expect, 7-11 slushy cups/ Locust flavoured mountaindew/ COLE TRAIN's Doritos to easily over shadow anything that comes near the Gears2 hype train.

but, imo itll headline MS' 09 lineup, not 08

sorry, but everyone knew halo3 was coming, did that stop it from destroying everything in its path and registering headlines on websites when a little bit of news was released. When Gears2 is announced, it will be a Megaton

MS has a deal with Epic to make the next one. It was expected.

And I disagree that knowing that Halo 3 was releasing was a megaton. Megaton is reserved for news that is unexpected and causes ripples in the gaming community. This is not to say that Halo 3 isn't a great game. It just means you guys are not using the definition for megaton correctly in this case.

Actually i agree with the guy you disagree with. I too do not find gears of war 2 a megaton due to the fact that both mark rein and cliffy b have said it is going to bea trilogy and may even have 4 games to the series.

it is too expected to be a megaton. starcraft 2, street fight 4 these are megatons. no one saw them coming although they have begged for them for years. hell even a new nights game could be a megaton (although i have not been impressed with what i have seen) games we know are set for sequals are not really megatons.
