"The newest issue of EGM, the one with Watchmen's Rorschach on the cover, contains a rumor that the unannounced game that Eternal Darkness and Too Human developer Silicon Knights is prepping for Sega may have to find a new home. The title is said to be looking for a new publisher but doesn't expound upon the reasoning for the alleged change.

We were told by Sega reps back in June to expect the unveiling of the Silicon Knights project "in the coming months" after a video, incorrectly identified to be that project, was leaked from market research firm Intellisponse.

We've contacted Sega reps to get confirmation on the rumored change in plans."

Why? You're hyped for Guerrilla's next game, and Guerrilla developed 2 games that bombed. Silicon Knights bombs on one game and it's time to pack up? Really?

Too Human is arguably the worst game of this gen

Denis Dyack IS the worst human being currently making games

Sega are doing very well right now. The last thing they need is to be saddled with a useless company like Silicon Knights. Eternal Darkness was a fluke and it would have ben nothing without nintendo's involvement

Did some people just start gaming this gen or what? Silicon Knights is a great developer, and they've messed up once... With a project they obviously had trouble with, seeing that Too Human was on the backburner and in development over a 10 year period. It was obviously a troubled project from the very beginning.

no silicon knights is a poor developer who got lucky once, with Nintendo's help

Too Human was a disaster and it is still defended by dyack fanboys to this day. blood omen was a so-so action game with some of the worst dialogue in history. MGS was a somehow inferior remake of a PS1 game

Denis Dyack is an egotistical maniac who blasted the very fans who've put up with his incompetence for so long. Good Riddance to them and good on Sega for ditching them

It's funny really.

It's like starting to hate on Miyamoto and claim he is crap because of Wii music.

I'm not a big fan of the partnership between Silicon Knights and SEGA. The biggest complaint of Too Human was that it was unpolished, now, when you think of polish, what companies come to mind? Valve, Epic, Bungie.... and somewhere at the bottom of the list, SEGA. I can't picture anything between SK and SEGA turning out well.

Hey, wild idea, but why not SK and Nintendo again? They did absolutely great stuff for the Gamecube (MGS remake, Eternal Darkness ) and Nintendo could use some games for more experienced gamers.

-

Plus, mentality-wise, those two are a better match. SK and Nintendo both have a "when it's done" and "we'll talk about it when it's ready" attitude. The new era of MS - SK "let's spill our beans two years out" thinking doesn't work well for how SK develops. If the SEGA - SK thing fell through, I imagine it's because SK said "look the game isn't going to be ready for holiday 2008 or 2009" and SEGA said "oh yes it will, or we'll publish it anyway or drop the project". Just look at what they're doing with Sonic Unleashed (only delayed in Japan! ) or what they did with Sonic 2006.

Wow, sucks for SK, they have really had a bad run of it here of late. Still, I know nothing about the game, so I really cannot comment on Sega's decision. Though it sounds to me like it is being done more out of fear after the Too Human debacle than anything else.

Shame, Too Human could have been much better, yes. However, it was no where near as horrible as many made it out to be on the internet, lol. There is actually quite a solid foundation there to build a great series on. That is, if you can overlook it's short comings and appreciate what it did right, then simply enjoy it for what it was.

You haven't played many games this gen. Vampire rain (X0 exclusive) and Vampire rain: Altered Species (PS3 exclusive) say hi. Also you should try History Channel: Battle for the Pacific. Oh.. and don't forget Turning Point or Legendary (from the same dev).

Firstly on topic, the Sega/SK game seemed doomed from the start so this may be what needs to happen. SK stumbled a bit on Too Human but it isn't all bad as there are much worse games I've played. We shall see if the rumor is true. Secondly, in this thread, it's fairly easy to discern between gamers who done allot of gaming in the 20th century and gamers who started gaming in the 21st century. :P

Good luck to both Sega & SK and can only hope both go back to their roots and create some of that great gaming they were known for in the past.

How was MGS1: remake worse than the PS1 original?

Oh dont you dare get me started! MGS TTS was a slap in the face to MGS fans around the world. I will make this short.

Tacking on gameplay mechanics from MGS2 without adjusting the level design, or enemy AI flow with it basically broke the game. It was neither fun, nor challenging.

The VAs with accents were ditched bland VAs and the returning VAs did mediocre job of re doing their roles. The OST was crapped on and replaced. The cutscenes were waaaayyy over the top even for an MGS title and Snakes character was really placed out of context as a result. It really looks stupid when your playing a stealth game and your character has no super human gameplay abilities, but then in a cutscene he surfs on a missle, does a backflip 20 feet in the air and lands safely on his feet, and then you go back to regular human ability gameplay. The game is loaded with moments like that. Not to mention all the atmosphere was lost in transitition as if the games soul was stripped out.

I've even seen countless sites and mags refer to TTS as how exactly NOT to do a remake. All the game did was ruin what was good about the original and failed to add anything new to make it worth a revisit. Graphics upgrade. Thats it. And not even a good one at that.

Too Human is far from the worst game this game.

If Nintendo makes another game with Silicon Knights i'm not buying a WiiMarloStanfield

Um...SK is actually a good dev, they suffered from "molyneux" syndrome. They got too ambitious with Too Human, that they forgot about polishing the game. MGS Twin Snakes was good, and Eternal Darkness on the GameCube is consideredone of the top 10 games on the GameCube.

And even Too Human is not that bad, almost all the people that played the game don't think its as bad as everyone who hasn't played it say.....

I though too human was part of a trilogy? Whats the matter sk, MS doesnt want you?TheGrat1

It is part of a trilogy, Too Human just came out, you won't hear from the sequel until prob next year.

SK had always planned too human, and separate game with sega.
