Rumor: Sony could not produce as many PS4 as they expected in 2013

for those who enjoy rumors 

Time ago we published an article about this topic. Sony expected to deliver 16 million of PS4 for the year 2013. Of course we are speaking about a fiscal year; this is since the console will be out until April 2014. We know Sony, very well, they never have been able to sell their products in the three markets at the same time. Always the Europeans have had to wait for their Playstations, now with PS4 the story seems to be the same.

Digitimes reported that Sony could have decreases their expectations, because the supply chain hasnt still received instructions for the shipment from the Japan-based vendor. Obviously a delay in the process is a feasible explanation.

lol, i doubt they have even started producing them volume yet. It is WAY too soon if the release date is November. Clearly a false rumor. Id say they start mass producing in August.navyguy21

Yep EBgames not yet but basically i signed up for the amazon.ca PS4 reminder thingy and counted it as a pre-order lol.. as soon as PS4 is available at EBgames i'll switch it there of course

Actually, if they truly plan on 16 mill by end of fiscal, then no, this is not too soon to be pumping them out. Generally console production is around 1 million per month, full bore maybe 2. We're in May now, so only if we assume that they get that 2 million per month (which they won't) will they make 16 mill in the fiscal.  They only have 6 months left till launch counting in lead time, and they'll want the bulk of their units out by christmas, so they if they get the more realistic 1 million per month out, they will have to be pumping them out now.  Granted, final assembly likely hasn't occurred, but the article is about the parts suppliers, not final assembly, and you can assemble anything without the parts.

Not surprising if true.  New consoles often suffer shortages at launch.

I got mine pre-order, but I do worry it might not make it this year for Europe

16 millions sounds too much, sure, but PS4 better to  come  this years in Europe. Otherwise i may have to think again :?

Indeed. Europe is one of Sony's biggest markets, so i don't think it would be fair to make them wait....again.

Anyway...i'll get a next gen console this fall. I would prefer it to be the PS4, so my decision is in Sony's hands now.

I just hope this time in EU the PS4 wont be considerably more expensive compared to other regions :(

I wouldnt mind spending part of my Xmas holidays playing Killzone, Driveclub & infamous on PS4 :)
