Rumor: Vita 2000 to be unveiled before TGS

Japanese newspaper Tokyo Keizai reported a rumor that Sony is set to reveal a new PS Vita model in September before the Tokyo Game Show. The new model PCH-2000 will have a 6.3" display manufactured by Samsung (screen size of the current model is 5"), and the resolution will remain at 960 x 554 pixels. The amount of RAM will increase from 512MB to 1GB, to allow more programs to run in the background, the amount of RAM used by games will be unchanged (meaning games are still compatible between old and new models). In addition, the design of the new model will be more in-line with the PS4 design; and the system will launch with new game titles.

The Vita is $200 this week at Best Buy and Target. It's most likely getting a price drop at gamescom.

2000 is the number off times it will outsell the 3ds

Personally the new model doesn't interest me that much. I want the games, if the new model offered actual folders that are customizable, than these lousy bubbles that are in the first Vita model, then I probably would consider getting this new model.

True, they need to redesign the OS. I liked the XMB way more than those stupid bubbles. But a hardware redesign is inevitable. So this rumor is likely true, as to when it will come that is something different.

I'm hoping it'll have some built in memory, like 16GB or something that can be expanded with those expensive Sony cards.

There will be no price drop. It will be the same price or it will be 50 bucks more. SO much for a strategy :roll:.

I'll probably wait until the 3rd version unless the price is right and I could get solid cash for the original model.

i felt the analog sticks at bestbuy man they seriously f*cking suck and they dont click.

They need to fix them to feel more like ps1 dualshock assholes main issue too small and dont click.

You can increase throw by thinning the stem on the sticks but then they become far more prone to breaking. The alternative is it increase the size of the stick-well and raising the sticks, but to do that you would have to reduce the speaker size (tbh I don't think that is a big loss and those speakers should be above the buttons anyway). This would make the sticks more prone to getting snagged on something in transit.

Make the sticks too big and they won't be ergonomically placed in relation to the buttons (to do so you would have to physically widen the the entire unit to maintain balance). Truth be told I don't think I've seen a dual-analogue stick set-up on a device that size that works better than the current Vita set-up.

To get better sticks they would have to find the balance between raising the height of the sticks, thinning the stem (replacing it with a thin metal shaft encased in another material to prevent scratching against the sides of the stick well) and widening the well, as well as having the stem of the stick run deeper in the back of the unit.
