Rumors: Far cry 5 to be Old West game?

now It appears that ubisoft are indeed working on far cry old west to compete with red dead redemption 2. I hope its true that we dont have many western games today. and if this is true. it will be better than RDR 2. because atleast ubisoft are better than rockstar and first person is better than third person.

I enjoy far cry 3 far more than all GTA combine.

That would be truly fantastic for me. There aren't enough old west games. Such a well worn trope in movies but not as much in games. There are westerns but few and far between.

Tower climbing isn't always bad. Look at Zelda! It's a great mechanic if you ask me, just been over used a bit.

But in Zelda you tower climb to get a vantage point, and then mark the map yourself. None of the points of interest or collectables are populated on the map. It's similar, but I prefer the way BotW did it.

Can the Ubisoft Formula apply to the Old West?

Still doesn't mean it should be dismissed straight away. The Far Cry games have been great in my opinion.

Seems cool but again, it doesn't matter what setting they choose....it's always going to play out just like every other Ubisoft open world game so there's nothing to be excited about here.

Hate to be such a Ubisoft sceptic but Far Cry primal has really opened my eyes :P

How they can create such a boring run of the mill Ubisoft game with such an interesting premise... I just don't get it.

It's not the setting that needs changing, it's whoever is designing missions/side missions at Ubisoft that needs to leave;

I sunk hundreds of hours into 3 and 4. Old West setting could be dope.

The tropical settings were great but pase at this point. They do need to shake it up. The caveman thing did not interest me at all.

Not sure how the forts would work. I usually sniped a few guards off before getting closer. No silencers back then.

Also going to miss the chopper. That was fun. And also want to add f@ck those honey badgers.

I am all for a Western setting. Anything is better than the dull and boring setting of FC4.

I'm up for a wild west setting, that would be pretty awesome iwth wildlife and weapons but they have to change the formula. The Far Cry games have gotten far too repetitive and its not good enough just to provide a new setting. There was genuine development from Far Cry to FC 2 to FC 3 but the game has just been stuck since.

I don't mind Ubisoft, I mean U-Play on PC is somewhat garbage and lately with what Ubisoft releases is okay at best in my opinion. My favorite game I've enjoyed from them over the past few years have been Rainbow Six: Siege & Far Cry 3. I wouldn't mind Ubisoft taking a stab at making a Far Cry with a western theme like @DocSanchez said, there are not a lot of western themed games out...

Could be cool. I've been dying for a good western shooter since the days of Call of Juarez, really enjoyed Bound in Blood and Gunslinger. And I've enjoyed the last few Far Cry games I've played, so I'm open to the idea, tentatively, let's wait and see what they have.

I'm not fond of the Wild West setting in my games. But, I wouldn't mind a Back to the Future III kind of western.

But yeah, I agree. I wasn't big on most open world games to begin with, but BotW made it that much worse. Even the open world games that I do like feel a bit lesser now. But getting into a Ubi open world again? lulz.

Nope, nope, nope. RDR2 will shit on a Far Cry western, I dont prefer one perspective over the other as playing only first person gets boring, GTA games are awesome as was FC3. FC4 was boring and I had no interest in Primal.

It better feel fresh and not a reskin of Far Cry 3 and 4.

Needs good western plot, good atmosphere, and new game mechanics.

obviously rockstar always boring. infact rockstar are only developers who make ubisoft good.

and i rather play far cry than look at GTA.

Far Cry 3 started out great but lost steam at the end, especially because they killed off the most interesting character halfway through.

Far Cry 4 was basically Far Cry 3 with more weapons and more stuff to do. But on the other hand it was also a bit too much like Far Cry 3 for its own good.

Far Cry 4 however did add a helicopter, rideable elephants, big ass machine guns, rocket launchers, mortars, ... Just a lot of stuff to do fun and unique stuff with. It also added the shangri la missions to spice things up, but those sections could've been done better.

Far Cry 4 is the overall better game, but playing it right after FC3 means you will get bored out of your mind.
