Certainly wouldn’t surprise me, especially Metal Gear Solid. Just hope they turn out good. I’m kind of sceptical about Silent Hill 2. Definitely need to see who’s doing MGS and Castlevania.

Honestly not surprised, figured it would have been announced earlier but Sony probably wanted to minimize exposure during the acquisition to appear more vulnerable in hopes of jamming that deal up.

Anyhow, curious if Hideo Kojima is involved. I don't care myself as I am not really a fan of his. But, for fans of both him and the series, this would be a huge deal and a more compelling selling point. But it would be a black eye for a Microsoft not necessarily missing out on an Kojima made MGS game (par for course if you ask me), but rather, Kojima is supposed to be working on an Xbox game, so really only two scenarios there I see: (1) that gets put on hold indefinitely (2) he rushes to finish a crapped out low quality game to fulfill his obligation with no love put into it and MS is either forced to release a shit game they take heat for releasing, or cancel the game's release and get shit on for that.

I do associate these franchises with PlayStation in my mind. However, I do not think they should be exclusive to Sony. Unless Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo are directly funding a game it's super unnecessary for it to be exclusive to one of them.

If so, please let Santa Monica do the next Castlevania game. They can split their time between releases of GOW.

If the games are designed to run on PS5 they will stay exclusive to PS5 because Xbox Series S would never be able to accommodate the transition and MS's have a Xbox Series X&S release clause.

It's the same reason Larian Studios have skipped over the Xbox Series X/S versions of Baldur's Gate 3 with no exclusive deal from Sony at all.

In either case, marketed exclusivity is pretty lame. If it serves a purpose or if it's a niche game (like serious flight sims only existing on PC, for example) that's one thing, but doing exclusivity just to force people onto your platform is pretty lame.

Buying out entire open market 3rd party publishers is the absolute WORST form of securing exclusivity a company can do...but the entirety of the xbox population were 110% in support of MS making those deals.

I think developers will abandon the Series S before this gen is over. Eventually you will see games only for PS5/XSX/PC.

Only a matter of time really, makes like zero sense to not cash in on these IPs. Especially MGS. Struggling to think of another instance where one of the bigger IPs in AAA gaming just freezes like that. Never fell off in critical or commercial success, just stopped. Unusual situation for sure.

And yeah, wouldn't surprise me a bit if Sony were the ones to move on that.

It's the best way to go about it, seems like if Xbox gets involved a game will be dubbed down. That way they are making a video game to ps5s full potential.

If MS is smart, they'll let it happen too.

Sony can't JUST make these deals by throwing a little cash. There is also an added understanding that influence the ease in which they're getting these "deals" done.

1. PS fanbase support the most games between all demographics
2. There is no need to limit or gimp the vision of their game to system with last gen power
3. There is no need to INCREASE development time & cost by needed to cater to inferior versons

Even if Sony don't pay anything, there are significant reason for devs to choose to go PS5 only based off the factors I listed above.

Probably Castlevania and Silent Hill are timed while MGS is exclusive.

Also, all of Bethesda future titles alone as permanent exclusives is much bigger than three timed exclusives where with two of the IPs PlayStation already has major history, there’s absolutely no comparison.

High on life, Ark 2, stalker 2, ravenlok, planet of lana, 12 minutes, medium, the last case of Benedict fox, Naraka Bladepoint, etc. All of these had or will have some type of exclusivity with xbox+pc.

I would assume timed exclusive and will release on PC after 6 months or a year, i don’t see it releasing on Xbox just because games don’t sell well on Xbox console
