Square-Enix knows that it is technically possible to make Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360. Not only is the white engine open-platform, but with Final Fantasy games always being a linear experience it will be possible to put the game on multiple DVDs if necessary.
Right now they are doing some analyzing. The PS3 is not a red-hot seller in Japan, and sales of the console are trailing well behind the Xbox 360 and Wii in North America. They are probably expecting even further sluggish sales of the console in Europe after the initial launch period, and now they are considering a business scheme that will make them the most money in the long-run for this extremely expensive project. Making games, especially a game like Final Fantasy XIII, doesn't come cheap anymore.
Square knows that, no matter what, people are going to buy their game in Japan, and it doesn't matter what hardware platform it is on. If they announced tomorrow that Final Fantasy XIII will be Xbox 360 exclusive, do you seriously expect the Japanese to continue ignoring the 360 like it doesn't exist? Games have always driven hardware sales, always, even in Japan.
I really hope it goes to the 360. I have 2 major games that I want to play on the PS3, but won't if it's not on the 360 (although there are some more minor games that I wouldn't mind playing ;)). FFXII is one, and MGS4 is the other. If FFXII goes to the 360, then that just leaves one more.Hungry_Homer111*whispers* FFXII is available now on the PS2
I'm told, Peter Moore wants the FFXIII Tatoo on his @ss and will moon the crowd when officialy announced ! ;)
I cant wait !

I hope it does happen, not because I have a 360 and would love to play it, but because the system wars would be total chaos. There would be more people being band in one day here then in the total of the year. It will be good reading no matter what. I can already hear the cows "But it will be on 4 disks, you will have to get up every 10 hrs. to change the disk... ownage!!!!11111!!!....
It will be the most fun I have ever had at system wars. :)
That's not what I head. I head he wanted it somewher that will grow, so you read FFXIII and with a good mag it will grow and read Final Fantasy X!!!. I hope he was kidding:|I'm told, Peter Moore wants the FFXIII Tatoo on his @ss and will moon the crowd when officialy announced ! ;)

I actually would LOVE to see the reaction , franzy and chaos that it would bring to SW. The poor mods :(I hope it does happen, not because I have a 360 and would love to play it, but because the system wars would be total chaos. Think of how many cows to try and do damage control will say "FF was not going to be a good game anyways you all can have it" or " I always thought FF would only be a AA game at best so no biggie" LOLrybe1025If FFXIII went multiplatform, there would be no damage control. Why? Because the damage would be too huge to control.

It would be huge on a scale that the only thing bigger would be Kaz hanging himself and Sony discontinuing the PS3 - "sorry guys, we suck" - it has seriously come down to two huge games - Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII - if Sony loses either of those games it's over.

They are discussing a change in contract, from non-exlucivity to exclusive, and for that, Sony is gonna have to offer a better royalty deal. And you bet if they have to offer 100% share of the game profit to SE, they will(probably with Konami too).
It's really stupid that Kutaragi took so long to approve these types of customized contracts, offering big share of profits to exclusives, small shares to time exclusives and smallest share to multi-plats. They kinda relied on the fact that everyone would prefer to release games for PS3 and got seriously burned.

It is game over - you're not running a Playstation console without the Final Fantasy series. FF has also been the litmus test for the industry, the main Final Fantasy games are released on the dominant console of a generation: NES - SNES - PS1 - PS2. If FF XIII goes to the Xbox 360 it will be a vote of no-confidence in Sony, and a warning sign of things to come for the PS3. Devil May Cry 4 was already a huge blow, whether fanboys want to admit it or not - FF XIII would be devastating.

Every week it's something new. Poor Sony. This couod be a crippling announcement if it loses exclusivity. Cows will probably then say how much this franchise sucked and how they don't need it.terrellpakemanNo, they won't. Only people who'd say that are people who've never played it before, or who are lying.
