Rumour: GTA IV: Stories in the works [Vita]

Right, so randomly searching google I found this even more random rumour. As with any rumour they really aren't to be trusted, but you never know..

Anyway here's the story:

With the PlayStation Vita the list of games will continue to grow as time goes by, but in the end what hardcore gamers want are the triple-a titles that the PSP once had in it?s arsenal. According to a tipster that has close ties some of the people over at Rockstar Games, (the folks behind the popular Grand Theft Auto series) have been working very hard at creating a Grand Theft Auto IV: Stories based game for the PlayStation Vita.

According to our tipster, the game will be based on the same map that we all know as Liberty City, but with a whole new story and character and possible downloadable content. Our tipster went as far as to even mention that the game has been in development for quite some time now. This does make sense being that if you look at the records, Rockstar released a Liberty City Stories game on the PSP only a few months after the handheld?s release here in North America.

Below we have some of the features that you might see on the future Grand Theft Auto Vita.

• Multiplayer
• Touch Based Combat
• Touch Based Steering
• Back Touch features
• New Music
• New Vehicles

As with any tip, we usually post these in the rumor section being that Rockstar has not confirmed or announced this just yet. There are, of course, some things that kind of confirm this such as the fact that Rockstar games is on the list of developers to make games for the handheld.

So, what made me think that this *could* be legit? While the "I know someone close to # developer" is always super doubtful there are 2 things (also mentioned in the article) to take into consideration:

• Several GTA games were released on the PSP.
• Rockstar was listed as developers making games for the Vita back when it was announced.

Besides that the GTA Stories games have also sold well and Liberty Stories was released a half year after the launch of the PSP. If Rockstar is truly working on a PS Vita game it could very well be announced at Gamescom and released next year.

Oh and GTA was also mentioned on the PS+ survey, but I highly doubt the games mentioned there means anything, especially since that would require full ports of Gran Turismo and GTA on the Vita...

A GTA and COD game on the Vita would definitely give it some life, especially if Sony dropped the price for the holidays.

I think that if any GTA happens for Vita, it'd be this. It'd make a lot more sense to make something that could tie into V than to go back to IV.

Better than another pure multiplat I guess.

Because San Andreas from the PS2 era is no longer the same San Andreas it is in the current GTA storyline, and because Rockstar has moved on from that universe since GTA IV.

It would be cool to see another game in Liberty City adding to the characters and universe we know., and I'd love for it to be 3D with Alderney this time since the Vita could probably do that.

It's a handheld, so I won't buy it even when its game library gets bigger.

Consoles are my thing.

I hate GTA. The Vita could use more games though.

I know that handheld GTAs have to be based on an already-rendered game world to save cost, but Liberty City in GTA4 was exhausted with the BoGT and LaD. Also, San Andreas doesn't make sense since that's PS2 graphics. If there's a GTA Stories game on the Vita it should be based on GTA5 Los Santos

If this is real, I bet all of the following will happen.

-The protagonist is reluctant to be a criminal and has no ambition.

-They keep associating with some idiot who gets into debt or pisses off important people, resulting in them getting dragged back into crime.

-Almost none of the gangs and organizations established as part of the setting but the Ancelottis and Pegorinos will have a significant presence.

I hope not. Im so burnt out on GTA4 and liberty city its not even funny. Weve already had GTA4, Lost and Damned, and Gay Tony (which was by far the best).

If they did, I would hope it would be based off of GTA5's Los Santos map as a tie in to GTA5 instead.

If I remember correctly GTA Chinatown Wars sold like crap on the DS which is why they ported it to the PSP soon after. On the other hand GTA: Liberty and Vice City stories sold well on the PSP. Rockstar most likely would rather try a Sony handheld first if this is true.

I just remember Rockstar not being happy with the DS sales and then started porting the game everywhere. The PSP games did better which is why they would choose PS Vita over 3DS i guess. It's either that or the tech in Vita being superior.

Sure hope it's real cause I was bloody disappointed when I found out that Vice City Nights was a hoax.

I'm talking about sales... Grand Theft Auto games have huge budgets. The Vita is lacking in sales. Thus, a Grand Theft Auto game would have a hard time selling enough to justify the development costs.

Couldn't care less, since not even the best game in the world would make me get a Vita.

However, it is good news for those who own a Vita. I imagine it'll sell like hotcakes.

If true Vita will finally get another high quality game.
