Dayum, and people call Sony dispirit for they bundles. This is coming from a company that gives you a used system when you send your brand new one in to get fixed.

read the article :? they have the repair center sticker on themAnd they have "repair the problems" so they can give a new guarantee, and if they give us a 3 year guarantee for a console that has a really high chances to get the RROD, why not to give it to a repair console
...or maybe these were old stock that they re-opened to make the heat sink change to before shipping out. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be legal for them to sell previously owned machines as new. At least it wouldn't be in the states.
mnvike
After opening 10 of them, they found that the machines have been converted to new and all have non-falcon motherboards, old Hitachi 47 or Samsung MS25 drives and the repair center sticker on them.
Dont think so.

read the article :? they have the repair center sticker on themI'm pretty sure its already been published that Microsoft was opening current stock of 360s and putting new heat sinks in them. Who's to say that isn't done at the repair center? Unless the laws are different in France they cannot be selling used systems as new.
I would be pretty suprised if these systems were used.

Seems logical if true. The Xbox 360 has a really high failure rate compared to other consoles. When you have a lot of refurbished consoles lying around, what better to use them than to resell them.

Because Microsoft obeys the laws all the time, which is why there slapped with a 22 million fine in february for anti-trust laws breaches in the EU :|

Hey, I'm not a Microsoft fan. I'm not saying Microsoft wouldn't do something like this if they thought there was a decent chance they could get away with it. I'm saying, if it is illegal, there is no way they would have done it. How could they possibly think it wouldn't get discovered by someone, especially considering how much scrutiny the hardware is currently under. Microsoft, like just about any HUGE company, may have questionable morals, but it doesn't make them stupid.
I wouldnt be suprised if all systems did this, its a dirty business when it comes down to making money and I can see any company doing this if they can get away with it. I hope it aint true but if it is, dat is so fu**ed up. clintos59
Hmmm. You just made me wonder, "what constitutes a used system?". Maybe if they take enough bits and pieces from a used system and put them in a new case, its no longer used?
Anyrate, rather than arguing with everyone I'll just say that I agree, if this is true, its a pretty crappy thing to do.

Well, it isn't unheard of to sell refurbished equipment so I imagine it may not be illegal, but it certainly might attract bad press.

It's illegal when it's done without the customers notice

Well that's where legal technicalities and good lawyers comes into it.
I think somebody would have noticed this earlier and the problem would have been more widespread were it true. There is no photo evidence at the moment. I guess this is a story which nobody will know. I say we don't talk about it untill its proven true. readingfc_1
I would assume that if it is kept alive, there's more likelyhood it'll be proved, or disproved, whichever the case may be.
