When did $400 dollars become a "great" price after the system has been out for a year? Ahh...the good old, under $200 SNES, Genesis days....BuddaX

But things have changed. Sometimes I wouldn't mind going back to the SNES days, with the sidescrollers... I definitely prefer Mario games that way; the 3D Mario games have not been very good, imo.
But alot more people will be willing to buy a PS3 at 400 than at 600 dollars. And along with MGS4, FFXIII and GT5 this can bring up PS3s numbers by alot.

Yeah Sony is gonna need to do this and they are gonna need to hype their games more...where the hell are the commercials Sony??? I saw more Overlord commercials than Warhawk commercials.

The thing is. Xbox 360 will be selling at max this holiday weather or not it gets another $50 price drop or not. The core gamers who like halo etc. will buy a 360 no matter what, and it would be a worthless move.
PS3 caters to a more casual market and would benefit much more from a price drop because of this.

The only way that the PS3 would bury the Wii and 360 is if it came out at $299 and MGS 4, KZ 2, GT 5 and FF XIII were released in the same week. In other words....NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

and how much does the ps3 actually cost to make at this point? i mean there has to be a limit to how much these companies can drop their prices. im not making any statements cuz i dont know, but its gotta be pretty far up there. i understand that most of the money is off games/accessories, but if a company is losing $100-$150 a console, then that seems like it would be crippling, even for a huge company like Sony.

The early adopters of any piece of technology know that there are going to be price drops, and they are smart enough to realize that they are buying one at the most it will ever cost.
I wouldn't be angry. Personally, I would only be upset if they dropped the price a DAY after I bought it.
The people who got one early on are just happy they could get one before anyone else, so they can be the coolest kid on the block so to say.

They have actually prepared themselves to lose money. recently they shifted billions of dollars into thier game division, possibly because of this rumoured price drop.

A 360 without a harddrive is worthless....nonetheless even if ps3's price was dropped to $399 I still wouldn't be invoked to buy one. No games and everything that it has the 360 has but better. Ps3 has already lost, no matter what they do.
