Was this guy the creator of some of the final fantasys? I agree what this fella says, if final fantasy went mutliplat it would not only help the 360 in japan it will make square alot more $$$.. and alot more people will start buying 360 for rpgs.

"GTA needs Halo" No, I was just pointing out that he had his analogies backwards compared to what Sakaguchi said. Although, I have to say that the site that the TC linked misquoted Sakaguchi. He said that FF can benefit from the 360, not that it needs the 360, and Sakaguchi also said that he HEARD that the White Engine was an open platform engine, not that he KNOWS it's an open platform engine.
I would agree if Final Fantasy XIII was coming this year, but alas it is scheduled for a late 2008 release. I think what he should be saying is that FFXIII needs the Wii, or better yet a boost in PS3 sales by that time. While he is currently in Microsoft's pocket and is guaranteed to praise the 360, I think deep down he knows which console will dominate Japan from here on out.

Pretty much. When it comes out. 360 will have Mass Effect(Possible even part 2), Lost Odyssy, Blue Dragon, Cry On, Fable 2, Eternal Sonata, Infinite Discovery, and several more. All PS3 will have is White Knight.
And to be honest. FF will sell. But if they think it is going to push the PS3 and make it's normal 7million copies.:lol: They will be lucky to pass a million in both NA and Europe. This is where a nice 360 port could in with a fantastic demo.

Xbox is selling good in america, but not ps2 good. i mean how long has the wii been out and look how much of america its got already, and anyone with sense knows the ps3 is going to devour europe. looking at how much the ps3 costs i'm surprised its shifted as much as it has, but that's brand loyalty for you. hironbou needs to shut his mouth and make a good damn game. one that is actually innovative.
That is true in a sense.. but blue dragon's purpose wasn't to sell that well I don't think, it was to boost sales in Japan for the xbox 360 and this Sakaguchi guy said they reached there goal of 100k soon to be 200k in sales so I think it's done ok on the 360 thus far.

Really I thought the guy in the interview said blue dragon will reach 200k sales pretty soon any how, 129k is pretty big for what they where trying to achieve and that is to boost sales in japan for 360 by a bit.. that was the purpose of blue dragon... eventually 360 games will start selling well in Japan once the 360 starts selling well in Japan..
far from an accurate comparison. Halo is EXCLUSIVE because Microsoft OWNS Bungie. GTA at this point is simply too much for the Wii hardware to handle. No dobut about that. There's no reason SquareEnix can't bring FF to the 360, other than than that they simply don't appear to want to be bothered.

So it sold relatively well, considering 1/3 of 360 owners picked it up. Thats like saying it sold 3 million worldwide.
It seems that Sakaguchi still cares for the franchise he love and created since the NES. And he wants all gamers to play the franchise. But looking where the ps3 is at, it doesn't look good for the FF series to sell in the Western world compared to Japan in which they go crazy for the FF series.
The interview reeked of pay off, which isn't a surprise seeing as it happens in the industry all of the time.

As a gamer I really don't think the 360 needs FF considering how well Oblivion did and Mass Effect/Fable 2 may do.. Also don't forget BD or LO coming out either... However from a business standpoint I think M$ needs the FF franchise to come to the 360 to make headway in Japan..Â
