Sakurai wants to make more DLC for SSB4

Nintendo, for this and Mario Kart 8, I really hope you plan a "Complete Edition", ala Netherrealm and MK9 and Injustice, or other devs and GOTY editions.

Besides that, nice flip-flop confirmation, Sakurai.

This is dlc more in the form of old pc game expansion packs.

Apparently developers aren't allowed to change their minds on things. You say you aren't going to do DLC for a game? You better not ever do DLC for that game ever or else!

That being said this isn't really surprising after the Lucas reveal and smash Ballot.

Are we really bitching about a kickass game getting continued support, just because he previously said it wasn't happening?

Let him make as many fighters and hopefully, stage packs as he wants. I'm game for them.

So, downloading one character like Mewtwo is on the level of PC expansions? By that logic, would buying Freddy Krueger or Skarlett for MK9 be the same thing then?

I never said the DLC itself was bad. What is BS is Sakurai, like Iwata and the mobile market, is being inconsistent.

Stop complaining. $14 or whatever it was for both MK8 DLC packs was a bargain. So much cheaper than most games DLC once you at it all up.

I never said DLC was inherently evil, did I? No. But with Nintendo being on the DLC bandwagon, I'd rather wait even longer to buy games like MK8 and SSB4 so I can get almost everything a bit cheaper.

You'll have great cause to do so once Nintendo demonstrates that the mythical Mario Kart GotY Edition exists.

I am not saying it never will, but multiple Nintendo games have gotten tons of DLC in the past. We have never gotten any 'Game of the Year' edition.

Oh, right: because nobody wants Dr. Mario or a recolor of Pit. Gotta remove fighters we actually want and sell them separately as DLC.

I don't see the issue with more DLC. It's not like they are rereleasing the game full price (coughcrapcomcough).

I got Mewtwo for free though.

Early access if you purchased the 3DS and Wii U versions isn't "free." "Free" is getting it without paying anything.

It's bad that it more or less keeps up with Nintendo's track record of inconsistent statements. Granted, some for the better, but others, it just makes them look like fools.

I love it. It means there is still a chance that I'll see Toad as a fighter sometime in my lifetime. I thought I'd be out of luck until 2020 or later.

Complaining about it when it is clearly for the better, such as this instance, makes you look like the fool however.

Do you have proof that Sakurai intentionally held back Mewtwo and Lucas so he could sell them later as DLC, and not that they were afterthoughts, or that he initially decided not to include and changed his mind later (like he changed his mind on adding any DLC in general)?

Also are people still upset about the clones in Smash 4? It was pretty much confirmed that they barely took any development time or as much effort and thus barely had minimal, if any, impact on the overall quality of the games (which could maybe answer why they didn't bother to try to sell them as DLC). I guess I also say as someone that loved Melee and enjoyed Kid Icarus Uprising, I was pretty okay about both of their inclusions.

Maybe Nintendo has finally realized that Smash can bring some much needed exposure to their lesser franchises.

Why not have Dr. Mario and Dark Pit as Alternate costumes seeing as how they don't differ much from the original versions anyway? They are just wastes of character slots in my opinion.

I'm sure if the man wanted to he could have had 60, 70, 80, etc etc characters if he really wanted to. And again, the clones took much less dev time compared to other characters or aspects of the game.

Dr. Mario, Dark Pit and Lucina took nothing away from Smash 4.

That complaint made sense when they did that shit from SF4 to SSF4.

But from then on it was SSF4 to Arcade to Ultra, which was DLC at a reasonable price. Retail stuff was there for people who missed that shit out right, or on platforms that didn't have SSF4.

I think it's great that they're adding more characters and content to Smash Bros. It would be cool if cross-play were somehow made possible, but I know that's unlikely.

Good. I have never purchased DLC before, but I will buy every DLC from this god.

That one is fair game, but I give Capcom enough credit to think it was a matter of they rushed the first one out because of the license window.

If they do more SSF - going forward, it's all good in the hood. Not ideal (Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, now that's ideal), but good

If they do more MvC3 to Ultra -that's shit.

Those 3 characters are kinda like extra bonuses tho. They didn't take anyone spot. Instead of having 49 characters, the game would have released with 46 without them. You can tell by their final smashes that they didn't take much time in development lol. I was mad at first too but I read Sakurai response and it made sense.

But maybe the clones should have been DLC so that they take more time to create totally different moves and stuff.... so that they don't become clones. Especially with Dark Pit and Lucina.

That's what I understand from his quote. He's complaining because to get the DLC you have to have the game already.

Dude. Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Lucina were planned as alts but were changed beacuse "Why not? We have enough resources for that.". Remove them, and the roster would've stayed the same.

Sakurai already stated it.
