Sales: Gears of War 2 or Resistance 2

I think once November comes around the PS3 will tie if not surpass the XBOX 360. Which leads to, which game will sell more on their exclusive system. NOT INCLUDING PC when Gears of War 2 goes to that.

Gears of war is a much better known franchise on a system with a larger install base and atach rate, it's a no brainer it will probably outsell Killzone 2, but GeOW was way overated with a buggy online and played well only for the host, I doubt 2 will be any improvement from the last. IMHO.

gears online worked fine and still does and is alot of fun

you must of heard a few stories from newbs who say the host is ubergod when it simply isnt true..

What about Grand Theft Auto IV?

I have a fine connection, the servers always played better for the host where sometimes meele kills got downright hard to get when the host was laggy. Give me dedicated servers and you got a better game. Online was still very linear.

The singleplayer was very good for a FPS, but really I don't buy FPS for single player I find RPG, action, and SRPG games do that much better. But hey GeOW did have a amazing single player experince I agree, hopefully #2 will be the same.

2nd, do you understand how Gears online was supposed to be? It wasn't suuposed to have gigantic maps. It has supposed to be up in your face and intense, and that's exactly what it was. I'll take Gears over 40 players running and jumping around a huge map, with a lot of glitching and cheating involved.

No offense to RFoM2, but Gears is in a completely different class of pop culture. Regardless of which game will be better, the impact RFoM made - at least in the United States - doesn't compare to the influence of Gears of War. I saw an online trading company's commercial mention Gears yesterday. You hear rappers, musicians, Hollywood types mention it occassionally.

This doesn't make it a better game. I loved Gears, but have never played Resistance so I can't speak to that. But it is safe to say that the two sequels are starting off in two different atmospheres of interest. It is safe to say Gears will build on the large pop culture interest it has going right now and thus reach a similar hype, but RFoM having achieved less market and cultural coverage will be starting from a need-to-build-interest strategy, unlike GeOW.

Hype = sales. Gears has it. Resistance doesn't.

Gears was really in your face, maybe I just don't like that kind of gameplay it's too random and the games end too fast. I like a bit of stratigy besides everyone zerging the tower for the sniper and everyone being killed before they even pick it up. Most strat I ever got was not heading to the tower and grabing the G. launcher and lobing it into the tower.

But hey, lets not get off topic were talking about sales, and quality of the game. Quality is a matter of opinion so we wont get anywhere arguing with eachother. Sales I will say it will sell much better than Killzone 2, but hey stranger things have gone down no?

i agree. think about it guys, resistance will be one of the last biggest games on the ps3, it comes out after MGS4, Hze, Killzone 2, LBP, plus many others. There will be a lot of ps3's in homes by november, especially with blu-ray winning over hd-dvd. resistance 2 will be hyped a lot and is one of the more reknown games on the ps3. saying gears 2 will sell 3x R2 seems foolish to me. and plus how do you know which game will be better? at least we have some screenshots of R2. dont jump the gun so quickly mate.

It didn't work fine. It's got horrible host advantage. that has been proven. glitching happens far too many times in ranked and unranked matches.

Are you serious? :? (referring to online) Online was terrible. Not only was it glitchy but it was completely unbalanced. Shotguns were overpowered, lancers were completely useless, bullet lag is annoying, and many more. I hope Gears 2 improves in that area.

Singleplayer is debatable but to say that it had a good story is laughable. It does, however, have interesting things and the end kept me wondering for some time. But at the end, Gears 1's story wasn't good. As for gameplay, it's debatable. It's short but can be fun when playing co-op. Other than that, I can't find myself to replay the game. Honestly, I thought the first was overrated.

there was a things going around here that said that the first gears of war maxed out the 360. now, if thats true, how do you guys figuer that the 2nd one will be any better? if the 360 was maxed out, what can they add to it to make it better? i never played resistance, but i played gears and gears didnt have any type of story behind it what so ever, all it has is tight game play.

and why are yall talking about sale already? are any of those games out yet?
