Year-over-year +267%, that's some crazy growth.

Nice! Samsung deserves it. They really do make the best smartphones.
My Captivate got such a speed boost after putting ICS on it.
im thinking of getting the galaxy s iii soon. like what im hearing about it so far. though i wish it was sdxc supported. i could finally replace my zune(battery is dying on it i think) with it though i guess 48gb(16gb internal and a 32gb sd card) should be enough for now
HTC needs more "GTFO with your bloatware HTC Sense".HTC needs more love

It's all the Samsung models vs the iPhone. Hardly a fair fight. And both are still nothing compared to the Nokia N9. Oh Nokia, why did you have to partner with Microsoft :cry:FrozenLiquid
Wait a minute, whose fault is that? Apple could easily make more models if they wanted.

Whoever said there was any fault? Apple sitting at second place in units sold with one model that's a revision of the previous iteration is not a cause for anti-Apple celebration. Half of the comments in this thread are proof that some of the Apple haters are just as mindless as the drones that gobble up anything Cupertino's golden child whips up.
Total gross is nothing. If anything, it makes dumb threads like this. In terms of growth and revenue, Apple's still growing, and they made more money than Samsung in the same time frame.
What's more interesting than the Samsung vs. Apple thing is the fact that Samsung just became the world's top cellphone maker (not just smartphones), beating out Nokia which has had the title for what seems like a lifetime. That's scary.
I'm glad for Samsung, but they're like to cellphones what Mazda is to cars ? both make great, reliable, handy products. But there's no sex appeal in owning one.
EDIT: sorry whoops I did not see that 267% growth by Samsung. I stand corrected.

Yay! Let's start hating on Samsung now!

No. Samsung is cool. Apple isn't.
Samsung is far from cool. They arguably do own the best electronics house, and make the best electronic consumables in the world.
I'm sure most of the Apple hate is from the fact that they only get by on looking cool, or something to that effect. Coz half the time people are complaining they're overpriced, underpowered crap.

I suspect it's more Android fans then Samsung fans then anything hyping this. It could be any manufacturer that could be praised for overtaking Apple on the Smart phone market. Apple can do the same thing as Samsung and just throw out as many models out there every 3 months as possible. Since this is more an Android vs iOS thing so it belongs on SW. How does all these Smartphones that Samsung keep churning out help the big fragmentation problems that Android faces when it comes to games?Samsung (and even moreso the Android OS) is womping Apple's Smartphones :). Makes me happy to see :P.
I have a Samsung Galaxy, but it isn't a phone. I am too cheap to pay the outrageous bill they are at right now :P.
It's all the Samsung models vs the iPhone. Hardly a fair fight. :FrozenLiquidTrue, but this cuts both ways. Apple also has unfair advantage in such comparisions. Because it doesn't have any competition in iOS market, while Samsung has to compete with dozens of other Android vendors.

No sex appeal? What in the world... either way most of the sales come from the Galaxy line which competes directly with Iphones. I don't see how that makes them like mazda.
True, but this cuts both ways. Apple also has unfair advantage in such comparisions. Because it doesn't have any competition in iOS market, while Samsung has to compete with dozens of other Android vendors. When you put it that way, it does level it a little bit. Though you still have the biggest electronics company in the world vs. the hipster who's still, all things considered, selling very few products in very few categories. Isn't Samsung big enough now to essentially be synonymous with Android anyway?[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]It's all the Samsung models vs the iPhone. Hardly a fair fight. :AdrianWerner

Because Windows has the better games support despite the infinite number of configurations you can have. Which has the better app support right now?
Windows has better games support because no one buys MACs for gaming.
Waiting to see what the Galaxy S3 looks like, then I'll be debating between it and the HTC One X.

My brother can't wait to see the reveal of the S3. I would be excited to if I was in the market, but I probably won't buy a smartphone for another few years.

We don't know if they're sales though because Samsung apparently doesn't report sales figures like Apple. People are estimating from their shipments. What we do know is that it's not exclusively the Galaxy. That doesn't make them like Mazda. I just made the offhand comment about them. Mazda make cars that are a bang for your buck. They do everything you need them to and then more. There's no word to describe what Mazda is though, but it may as well be invisible because that's its reputation for the most part. It's just there. Same with Samsung. They currently are one of the better television makers in the market, and now smartphones. But it's Samsung. It just happens to be there. iPhones are like BMWs. As tired as I am seeing them around everywhere, they do leave their mark by customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, and trendsetting features. Now if only the owners could stop being jackasses. Everybody has one. I've always been more of an Alfa Romeo guy, though. I like the passion and the drive gone into the car, even if it's only for the first ten kilometres before it breaks down . So it's the Nokia N9 for me, a fantastic phone that was dead on arrival. Very, very good product though. Please Log In to post.
