Santa Monica + Battlestar Galactica writer working on new IP

Speaking with Angeli after the panel, he said he's been doing writing on the game for the past two and a half years. After the studio wrapped development on God of War: Ascension for PlayStation 3, the full team of about 150 staffers transitioned to work on the new and still unannounced project.

Due to the unannounced nature of the project, Angeli said he couldn't elaborate on the game or the platform, but said that his Battlestar Galactica work, as well as his journalism background, helped him land the writing gig.

Looks like it'll be a Sci-Fi game, Hopefully it's not a FPS.

Some fvcking fantastic, poetic, and real ass writing. I hope this guy pours at least half the devotion into this game as he did BSG. I'm genuinely excited for the first time for a next gen game (outside of Phantom Pain).

BSG was a great series, hopefully this guy represents the quality from the show. Im curious as to what Sony Santa Monica is up to. Id like something like God of Wars gameplay at least, but a new ip would be cool. A scifi action game like God of War could be pretty unique. I recall there being a writers strike around season 3-4, if i remember correctly.

i loved bsg but there is no way you can pretend it was all that great of writing.

hell, the entire last half of the series they just wrote whatever the hell they wanted to throw in there whether it made sense or not or fitted into the blueprint of how the show worked.

i mean i guess it really did not affect my enjoyment of the series but what they did to attempt to tie up the loose ends was pretty much the definition of writing hackery.

 

There was a writer's strike in 2007 and every single show that was run by the WGA (Writer's Guild of America) was cut short that year and they only filmed what was written before they actually went on strike.

So from job descriptions and released info here is a list of everything we know about Sony Santa Monica's Sci-Fi New IP: 1) Project headed by Stig (head of GOW3) 2) Includes vehicles and mechs 3) Also includes Magic of some sort 4) Open World With the amount of time in development it will probably release next year.TheDidact

Battlestar Galactica is the best series ever made and God of War is a great franchise. Good things can come from there.
