Sci-Fi says Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of the most overrated games of 2008

I would've posted the text, but I didn't know if it would be against the ToS. :P What do you guys think? I agree 100% with this choice.

List includes Left 4 Dead, Burnout Paradise, MGS4, and LittleBigPlanet. GTA4 is number one.

Any list that hates on Burnout Paradise because it has "no meaningful physics" simply cannot be trusted about anything.

I kinda agree that MGS 4 is one of the more overrated games. But why is Colonization on that list, I haven't really seen that much hype about it that game.

Actually, what the writer of this article said is 100% true. And the "best game" is all subjective, of course. MGS4 is not nearly the highest rated game this year across the board, and that's a fact, which is proven to be true when looking at averages on Metacritic or GameRankings. And, of course, Sci-Fi writers don't only go by Gamespot review scores. ;)

What the writer said is an opinion, don't try to pass that off as fact, this thread proves otherwise. If the "best game" is subjective why even mention any scoring sites? I mean, it's all subjective, so who cares, right? Scores mean nothing, yet you go off to mention MGS' score and the fact that it didn't get the "best scores" while you're trying to convince us it's the most overrated.

This thread, like every one of BioShock's, is so full of fail.

i personally thoroughly enjoyed both of these games

As much as I loved MGS IV, it really makes me cringe when I hear some people saying, "it made me cry", "greatest game evar!" blah, blah blah. I think it's an awesome game but......People are stretching it's awesomeness factor to unbelievable levels. There are things that it does better than anybody has ever done, but there are also things about it that, when not looking through fanboy goggles are kind of average and in some cases, downright bad and overdone.

It's definitely one the short list of best game experiences this year though.

P.S. Bioshock should have been number 1 for 2007 in that case.

Okay, so that person who wrote it didn't like MGS4 as much as other people.

Calling something overrated though, is meaninglesss. If you dont' like it, you don't like it. If other people feel the same way, then they had a similar experience to what you had. But for those who did like it, a score that they give it cannot be "over" some kind of limit. That's their experience.

They were all probably thinking "Let's put all the games everyone loves and call them one of the most overrated games this year. That will really put us on the map!"mo0ksi

I'm thinking Sci-Fi has their own station on television, and is also pretty successful, so therefore I don't think they need to be "put on the map".

Someone needs to have a dictionary thrown at them with the page open at "Generic".

Name another "generic" Sci-Fi univerese anywhere near as big as Mass Effect's that has it's own full feature RPG video games. (Don't say Star Trek or Star Wars)

On any account I don't agree with this list. Someone telling you something is overated is simply them stating their opinion. Someone who works with a publication stating something is overated is an atempt to discredit critics and is incredibly arrogant.
