Hot off the heels of their most overrated games of 2008, here is a list of what Sci-Fi thinks are the best games of 2008.

I don't disagree with FC2 being there but i do disagree with it being first. I know it's their opinion but, to me, Gears of War 2 and MGS4 eclipsed all games this year.

And what's with Saints Row 2 being 2nd? Yea, that list is a joke.

I loved Saints Row 2, but no way does it deserve #2, nor do any of those other games on that list deserve to be there.SemiMaster

I don't mean to offend, but a better name for Far Cry 2 would've been "Negro Shootin' Sim 2008."TenP

The game takes place in Africa, what did you expect? A blunt name like that would've killed the sales as well. ;)

At least its better then Crysis. Its not the same overused tropical island trash that comes every year ... Far Cry, Just Cause, Crysis, etc.

I understand it takes place in Africa, heck I'd expect Africa to be full of Africans. I myself was upset when people cried out about RE5 having too many black people in it.

But that's really all you do, there's no other point to the game except to drive back and forth and shoot black people over and over. The first Far Cry was far better.

I actually really enjoy the open ended gameplay of FC2. I played the original FarCry (FarCry on pc and FarCry Instincts on Xbox) and enjoyed them both but both were not truly "open". FarCry on pc was sort of open but the end result of every encounter was essentially the same, In other words, it was like Crysis in that you were still going down a linear path just with the way you approach each encounter being different. FarCry Instincts had a very good story and multiplayer component IMO. Though the single player was fairly linear with very little exploring allowed it was fun to play. The Story of Instincts is by far the best FarCry story yet IMO. To me Far Cry 2's open endedness is what makes it what it is. I agree the enemies are sort of repetitive but the gameplay itself makes up for it IMO.

Far Cry 2 is indeed a fun shooter, but GOTY material....hardly. Only 2 games fit that mold this year in my view, and those are GTA IV and MGS4. Sci Fi needs to be tarred, feathered and promptly exiled from the planet for saying MGS4 is the most overrated game of the year. Also, I am not even going to mention the fact that they put Saints Row 2 in at # 2. As that is so hilarious, it is self explanatory.ironcreed

I get what you're saying, just the game didn't really catch me like the first one did. Perhaps it was when Far Cry first released it was the best looking game out there, I'll have to play it again to see if I still like it.

Actually, I said my "shooter" of the year....and it is. Feel free to look that up, if you wish.;) Not hardly my GOTY though. I am strongly leaning towards GTA IV as far as that goes. I would not have thought so at the time it released. However, when I looked back on the year, I realized that I actually enjoyed that game more than any other I played.
