You can not possible predict what will happen in future years.

Very cheesy scene. Reminds me of how bad The Island is.

And while it may happen in the future, it won't be with Kinect.

it is gonna happen, but its not because of kinect, kinect isnt the only device doing it, there are others out there, its up to microsoft if the paten it or not.

Yeah, the fighting would be great, until you tried to show your opponent what the bottom of your shoe looks like :P

It's so funny watching a generation of gamers who completely missed the golden age of arcade gaming. Guys, we already had technology like they showed in The Island. During the mid-90s in fact there was an arcade game at a couple of the larger arcades that worked like that. The two players stood facing each other, and then performed punches, kicks, uppercuts, jump kicks, etc... and the game picked them all up and mapped your motions to the screen. While the graphics were (obviously) a bit simpler, the motion capture was solid. - Kinect, MOVE, even the Wii, it's nothing new, we had this tech in arcades two decades ago. The primary difference is that the "stuff" has become quite a bit more affordable, and the processing power has gone up a thousand-fold from what we had years ago. What required a twenty foot installation in an arcade is now being done at home. However, the downside to all that is you pay $210+ (assuming you already have the consoles in question) to buy into a game that gets old fast. The Kinect and MOVE software had better be *far* deeper than this type of fighting game experience, or it'll fail horribly. - One of the most dangerous things about the arcade scene was that any hugely expensive equipment (such as mo-cap fighting games) had to be somewhere big enough that it got the sales it needed before people got bored with it. That's why smaller arcade machines like Street Fighter 2 were great investments, and bigger installations like VR Tank Battles or F-16 cockpits (full 360 motion, the thing rotated around, it was great) were mainly there to draw people to spend their quarters on the smaller, less expensive machines.

The above video worries me. The Kinect is actually teaching people how to dance badly! We can't have a world full of terrible dancers!
